Cross posted on FB...I’m having a hard time pilling Jimmy. Tried hiding in food, made a meat pocket and tried a piller/water thing. No luck. Gonna try the pill pockets - which ones are OK to our diabetic kitties?
Ok great thanks! The ones for cats are high in carbs. The duck flavor for dogs is the best. They are huge, so just break off as much as you need to cover the pill. I recommend giving him one or two without pills in them to see if he likes them (and to throw him off the fact that there might be a pill in it) first.
Butter worked a few times. Then he caught on. Tuna is hard to resist.I sometimes used gelcaps in conjunction with pill pockets - you can often get more than one pill in each gelcap (I used sizes 3-5, depending on size and number of pills), and it helps it slide down easier. Another approach, minus the pill pocket, is to coat the gelcap with butter.
I tried both. He breaks the capsule and because it’s the FMT poo pills...I’m guessing it tastes quite nasty. Praying the pill pocket works.Butter worked a few times. Then he caught on. Tuna is hard to resist.
I used this one. I put Zimmy's gel cap in it.... Since its a paste you choose how much of it to use.I tried both. He breaks the capsule and because it’s the FMT poo pills...I’m guessing it tastes quite nasty. Praying the pill pocket works.
Here are the ingredients: wheat flour, corn syrup, glycerin, vegetable oil, stabilized rice bran, spray dried liver powder, dried corn syrup, lecithin, dried cheese, fish oil, natural flavor, salt, sorbic acid (to preserve freshness) calcium propionate (to preserve freshness) brewers yeast, dried yeast, sodium acid pyrophosphate and rosemary extract. Not ideal for diabetics.I used this one. I put Zimmy's gel cap in it.... Since its a paste you choose how much of it to use.

The Poo pillsWhat med/meds are you giving Jimmy? Sometimes you can have them compounded either into a liquid or a chewable treat.
I used pork tenderloin and snipped a little pocket. He chews the piece and out pops the tiny capsule. He does attempt to eat the capsule but because they are poo pills I can imagine they don’t exactly great. Lol.I used the allergy free duck and pea dog pill pockets for years for Neko. They are diabetes friendly, or at least they didn't impact her blood sugar. What was your meat pocket like? I've seen raw chicken hearts advertised as "pill pockets". Do like Tricia suggested and give them plain first to make sure he likes them, then you can stuff them. My vet recommended meat + olive oil to get a paste and use that as a pill picket. Sometimes I'd take a piece of roast chicken breast and use that.
Okay, that was more info than I was expecting!

Lol. I know right.Okay, that was more info than I was expecting!
I guess those couldn't be compounded, then.![]()
I didn't know they were using them for cats and dogs - that's cool.
