I am a bit concerned. He is a bit more touchy around his mid-section today than he has been. He has not had a very good poo in a day and instead just some runny plops. I am so frustrated because it seems the only thing to help his digestion is more medicine, but the more medicine upsets his tummy. He is not completely cleaned out today, but not in a horrible state so I am not giving Prazosin. I want a chance for his tummy to recoup a bit. I also gave his Cisapride on a fully belly. It is not as effective this way, but I feel he needs a break for a day from the influx of pharmaceuticals.

Still, I am in no way satisfied with the answers I have gotten in regards to his urinary habits and digestive abilities. I have contacted Paula @WSU and am trying to schedule and US. We will stay and extra day if need be to get this done. I planned for discrepancies in the time line just for things like this. He has had the 'black pepper' flakes of dried blood in his stools for a bit and this scares the living crap out of me, but the vet assured me that it is from that colon expanding and contracting. It is never a lot, but concerning nonetheless. He as been on Metronidazole before to combat this issue, but apparently is something that we can do nothing about....??? His x-rays are always clean, his blood work is clean, he is playing, he is voraciously eating, and if it were not for this I would have really no cause to worry. However, I need to know exactly what is going on with him if I am to meet it head on and logically address it. Otherwise it is just shooting in the dark with loose conjectures.
 
The diarrhea may be the bodies natural reaction to "clean" the pipe. No expert on Pig's condition so if I am out to lunch just let me know.

Now it maybe discomforting for him and maybe some light pain medication will help with that.

Well, he is on Gabapentin 50mg BID. His body might be trying to clean itself out. I don't know. I was explained that it is the fecal matter from above the colon moving around some of the larger pieces in the colon. However, at this point he is not constipated. His stomach is not tight at all. It is fairly loose. So, perhaps it is lasting effects of either the MiraLax or Cisapride or both...??
 
I just talked extensively to my vet. She again assured me that the flecks were most likely from the colon. If he had an ulcer he would not want to eat or I would see much more drastic symptoms. Nothing overly seems to be bothering him except perhaps a bit of an upset tummy. In fact, the irritation I saw earlier at my prodding is going away slowly and he seems to be feeling better already. I am just really in need of an US so I know exactly where we are. He will have his appointment in seven short days, but it feels like a lifetime away...
 
Well some good news. WSU said that we can and will perform an US upon intake and that all the radiology will be done at the same time. This is and will be a tremendous relief. Now, they also said that Pig will need to be off food for 6 hours prior to any anesthesia. They are two hours behind us and his CT will not be until about 2-2:30 pm their time. I give his shot at 11-11:30 our time, making that 9-9;30 their time. If I can pull his shot time back to about 9:00 our time that will be 7:00 their time. Ample time to allow for the CT Scan. I know nothing of times for the actual procedure.

We will leave out the morning of the 4th. I have not quite decided that. I most likely will upload to YouTube and then embed it here. I do not want to weigh down the forums with attached videos.
His intake and CT appointment are on the 7th of May @ 1:00pm their time.. I forget the abbreviation for which zone they are.. :oops:

We switched Phoebe from miralax to benefiber because she would get blk tarry stools. We had many tests done for blood cultures but we just figured it was miralax. So that might be the culprit. So excited you have you date. Big hugs and many vines headed your way. Phoebe had a wonderful day today :)

I am glad you say this because I first noticed them after the very first time using MiraLax. Perhaps that is all it is. However, I was strictly instructed against using any bulk laxative such as benefiber in megacolonic cats as all it does, really, is beef up the size of the fecal matter. I was also steered away from pumpkin...
 
@Wendy&Neko would you look at this rockstar! Another 68 ps after another bit shaved off the dose. His highs are trending a bit higher, but the lows are still dipping. Am I interpreting this correctly? Do we still think that his dose should be reduced again for the trip? Or should we continue with the plan and wait it out until Tuesday or Wednesday?
 
His dose will probably be lower for the trip. I would only want a dose with higher greens, for safety, while on the road. Pullouts on the highway aren't as frequent as you would like.

I think I worded my question wrong. I am sorry. We had discussed a reduced dose for the trip and that we would look at reducing it on either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week to allow the depot sometime to drain. However, we had also discussed keeping him out of much lower numbers in general as he gets a bit wonky. I was just curious if you felt it was a good idea to reduce again before we made the reduction for the trip. I wrote the first question out very confusing. I see that now. My brain is overwhelmed...
