Phosphorus levels in DM cats?

Should I be concerned about phosphorus levels in canned food for my Dudley? Most of the food that is high protein/low carb seem to have very high phosphorus levels. What is the appropriate phos. amount for a cat on a daily basis - especially a DM cat. Although his kidneys are good right now, I worry about long term effects. About 16 yrs ago, my girl, Tabitha (17yrs. old) had CRF, and my husband and I gave her SubQs daily for over a year, along with a KD diet. I don't want that for Dudley - he has enough to deal with. Plus, I have 4 other cats (ages 1, 10, 13 & 14) that I need to consider. Oh, did I mention that my 13yr old, Ziggy has epilepsy, a heart mummer and FIV! All of the others, including Dudley have tested negative. Whew! I would truly appreciate any advise on the matter.

Check this site for current info on Feline CRF.
This food list at Cat Info has phosphorus info. Basically, you want to find a reasonable compromise for low carb and low phosphorus. It depends somewhat on whether or not he has CRF now.

Hypophasphatemia could be a problem for bone maintenance, causing bone loss. It also may contribute to disordered acid:base balance in the body which can be fatal.

Are Evo and Friskies Special Diet safe in moderation if I am also giving food like Fancy Feast Classics and Wellness for a cat without CRF but with kidney issues, i.e. enlarged kidneys?
