It's been a very long time since I posted on here. Phoenix and I were lucky enough to have about 2 1/2 years being OTJ. I noticed some symptoms that were a little alarming and after testing discovered high numbers. Went to the vet today and got a new RX for Lantus. I'm going to pick right back up where we left off years ago with the hopes that we can get into remission again.

I truly feel that this forum saved Phoenix's life 3 years ago when I was seeing a vet who really didn't know much about FD and was prescribing a very high dose. I have found a new vet who totally supports doing curves and hopefully working towards remission. Thanks to everyone who helped us all those years ago and thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure this forum will be for us now.

Did your vet run any labs? I'd want to make sure that there's no infection and no dental issues going on. Things like a urinary track infection or a dental infection or gingivitis can cause numbers to go up into a diabetic range. As long as Phoenix was thoroughly checked out, I'm sorry to see you back but welcome!

Welcome back, Lindsay and Phoenix! I hope your stay will be brief!!
You will see when you read the revised "Stickies" that there is a lot of new information out there. And Dr. Lisa Pierson has put together a new foods list (see the 'New to the Group" sticky). This is important, since many companies have changed their wet- food formulas. You will find that many of us "old timers" are still here, plugging along.

Thanks for responding. I am actually waiting to hear back on the labs so I am not going to fill the prescription until I hear back from them Friday. I did not think about other things that could cause numbers to go up. So basically it's possible that he could just have something like a Urinary Tract Infection and he isn't relapsing? Fingers crossed for that.

I have been reading the new "stickies" and there is a lot of information since I was here last. Thanks for the welcome.

It's entirely possible that there's an infection/inflammation going on and that's caused the rise in numbers. Likewise, the need for dental work has thrown any number of kitties out of remission.
