Hey guys, please check out Phoenix' spreadsheet. I have been testing lately only pre-shot. I know this is not the best way but my schedule has been super crazy lately. I am completely off on Thursday and am going to do a curve. I have been reading that people go OTJ at much higher numbers than Phoenix has been testing at so I think now may be a good time to attempt no insulin. I find that a lot of times I don't feel comfortable shooting at all... tonight and last night were good examples as we had a 53 this evening. Please don't yell at me for not testing often ;) and any help is very welcome!

Hey ...where is all the help?? bump it up...

Seems to me Phoenix might be ready for a trial but then I am not one of the the board experts. Hopefully they will be around soon. If not, maybe you could skip just 1 cycle and see what happens? In any event, Phoenix is doing Grrrrrrrrreat! Good Job!!

I'm not a dosing expert, and it certainly isn't my job to yell at people about how often they test  ...but my opinion is that I would stop the insulin and see what happens. The worst thing that could happen is that you need to start it back up. One drop is such a small dose and you have had numbers unconsistently under 100, so I'd give it a try. You still need to check BGs at what would normally be preshot times, so check them twice a day still.

ETA: Skipping a dose for one cycle won't show you anything of value because Phoenix still has a shed to deplete...a small shed, but still a shed.

Hi, I'm always up at the crack of dawn and saw your condo. Phoenix looks really great, and I'll bump you up so the experienced ones can see. Please don't worry about anyone yelling  You're doing the best you can, and it can't be easy with a crazy schedule. It will be interesting to see your curve on Thursday when you're off for the day.

Phoenix's spreadsheet look really great and the numbers are mostly green. I'm not an OTJ expert but it looks like Phoenix may be ready for a trial. Bump!

I suspect that Phoenix is ready for a trial. It's very hard for me to commit to saying, "Go ahead." given the lack of mid-cycle tests since July 1.

Ok thanks guys for all your input. Is there a number that if I see it I should know that we are not ready to be OTJ? Like any number that I should go ahead and shoot?

Just follow these simple instructions!!

Here are the OTJ trial instructions:

Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).

If he is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
