Phoebe's Rebound pt. 61

Thanks Juls! Billy is a handsome boy!
Oh Gosh! Phoebe is more often a girl's name. Blushing at our mistake.
But I cat sit for someone with a cat named Maggy, another girl's name, but Maggy is a boy too!

I like to watch birds, so I know that an Eastern Phoebe is also a type of bird, with a sweet song.

How did Phoebe get his name?

p.s. Sorry, could not tell from your signature that Phoebe was a boy. Would you consider adding that so we don't make that mistake again. Some of us are new and haven't been posting on the Prozinc forum for long. Embarrassed.

Phoebe is 100% female. My nephew Riley named her when he was 4. I believe he liked Phoebe from the TV show Friends. I watch birds as well. I live next to the Volo Bog which is incredible for the bird diversity. I inherited her when she was 1 because my brother in law is allergic to cat's. I think in my distress of Phoebe going DKA right in front of my eyes when l found FelineDiabetes.coml may have filled out a few fields incorrectly? I know l made mistakes with my first postings. Are you talking about the personal bio where it asks name, location, and age? Now you have me confused.

Scooter is almost three. I found him alone in the back yard, tiny and sick, abandoned by his feral mama. You'd never know that now! He's a big happy snuggle bug! That's my Billy next to him. He was so sick when he was diagnosed, I thought we would lose him. Thanks to this board, he's doing great now.

Yes, I mean the personal bio. Those little pieces of information that show up below your posts. Do you know how to change it?

If you go to the top of the forum. Click on your user name. A drop down list appears. On the left hand side, 2nd one down it says "Signature". Click on that. It opens a text box with what you have in your signature now. Change anything that is needed. Be sure to then click on the icon below the text box that says "Save Changes."

That's it. The good thing about doing that, is it's not a permanent part of your post. If things in your profile change, there is computer software behind the scenes that "magically" looks at your info and attaches it to the post, including every post you have ever done. Neat!

There is a limit to how many characters you can have, but I forget what that limit is. You can put the | character between sections to make them look more separated. While you are there, if you make a note that Phoebe had DKA in past, that is helpful too.

Looks normal to me. Below all my posts it has Phoebe's name and age and personal informstion.

Phoebe hasn't been feeling good today. I was worried when she didn't eat her breakfast. That never happens. I realized a few minutes ago that l never gave Phoebe her insulin in the PM yesterday! So she went 24 hours between shots! I'm so mad at myself! :banghead:

It happens. Did it myself. Did fur shots too, where I know the insulin did not get into my cat.

You realized Phoebe didn't look good and thought about the reasons why that could be. Go forward from where you are now. The past is the past and can't be changed.

Simply put 0 units in the SS and maybe a note in the Remarks column over on the right. That way, if we look back at the SS and see the missed dose, we'll know why.

None of us are perfect. None of us, especially me.

I’ve done that before too Eric. Is she eating any better tonight? Try warming her food and stirring it up good to release the aroma

Thanks Deb! Still can't believe l forgot...:banghead:

She's bouncing up, after that low of 264 in the middle of the cycle today 1/24/20. Nothing you did caused this. It's good to see Phoebe's numbers are in the yellow range in the middle of the cycle on the SS.

Bounces happen, and they usually last 3 to 6 cycles, 12 hour cycles. It's just her body, trying to protect herself, by dumping hormones and different types of sugars into the blood stream.

Be patient. Wait it out. And save yourself from headaches and stop banging your head against the wall. Please. You are doing your best for Phoebe. She knows that.

When you say 2.05U on the SS, do you mean 'just a little bit more insulin' than the 2U? Is the end of the stopper on the syringe a little farther away from the needle end? Or do you mean you gave Phoebe 2.5U?

Yes. It was 2.05u

Phoebe seems ok but she's been drinking a lot of water and her preshot numbers have been high. I also realized my ketostix are expired! Once l dig out from the snowstorm I'm headed to store for new ones!

If the expiration date is not too far back on the ketostix, say a couple of months, they may still be ok. As long as you have stored them well, keeping the cap on tightly is the most important part. So moisture from the air does not affect them.

I've used test strips past their expiration date also. Only while looking for other signs of trouble with my diabetic cat.

That weather system you had in the mid-west US is coming for us tonight with rain on the north east coast. Lots of rain.

Phoebe's ketones reading was negative. But I'm going to check again when l see her go to the litterbox. That being said she just ate again so all signs are positive.

Thanks Sharon. I just checked her ketones again and it's negative still which is good. She's been doing a lot of laying around. Funny thing one of her favorite places to lay is her pet taxi but she hates going anywhere in it! Lol!

Glad to hear that Phoebe is doing better. She's like a part of our family. Thanks for sharing a picture of her. Was that picture taken today?
