Not liking these high numbers. Phoebe seems fine. Still being her playful and affectionate self. Time to switch insulin for the third time?
 
I think it is. Do you have any vacation time planned over the holidays? It's ideal to switch at a time when you'll be around and do a fair amount of testing if at all possible. Especially going from Prozinc to either Lantus or Levemir. They behave quite differently so you'll want to keep an eye on Phoebe's numbers.

If you don't have vacation time coming, then you can still make it work, and the folks on the L/L forum can help you get ready for that.

Before you decide, it would be probably be helpful to read the stickies over there. They have a TON of information and run the forum a bit differently than we do in our smaller forum over here, so a little time to lurk and read and become familiar can help. (if you haven't already done that).

Also, before you decide - when was the last time Phoebe was at the vet and had a blood panel and exam done? If it's been awhile, it's worth ruling out some other health issue as a possible cause of these numbers.

No I have no vacation time planned over the holiday. I'm part of the working poor. Weather has completely affected my work. Vacation time what is that? I'll see if the good people over at the other organization(that I can't name on here)can help with me getting a new prescription for Phoebe. That's one reason Djamila I haven't switched earlier. I'm lucky to keep the lights on and a roof over Phoebe and my head at the moment.

Phoebe was at the vet in the Spring. Dr. Fox said she was healthy.
 
I agree. Not that we don't want you over here in Prozinc Land, but I think Phoebe might do better on one of the L's. I'd go ahead and post on Lantus and let them know you're thinking of switching and ask for some advice. They can give you some good tips to get started and let you know if there is anything you can do to help get you ready!
 
I hear ya on the expense of all of this! The good news is that Lantus is actually less expensive than Prozinc since it's more concentrated - it lasts a lot longer. I hope the good people can help you with getting started!
 
I hope you can get help too, Eric! If I understand you correctly there's another organization that might help you aside from the one we know about here, Diabetic Cats In Need (DCIN). Try DCIN if your first choice doesn't work out. The member here who is the contact person is @Chris & China. I think they set people up with Lantus if you qualify.
