Phoebe is starting to smell like urine. She still isn't grooming like she should so I want to embark on this. She has Never had a "bath" and I know this is a) going to stress her and momma bean b) stress her and daddy bean. Please I need suggestions for the easiest and less blood shed as possible? Can I just use baby wipes or baby wipes with warm dawn water? Do I need to keep wrapped in a towel, there is no way to dry her with blow dryer. I am worried about her getting chilled. Ty have I mentioned how much I love you great folks. :bighug::bighug: it's a great gift for my hubby's birthday dont ya think ?? :woot::woot: o_Oo_O :D:joyful::joyful:
 
You can buy cleaning wipes from most pet stores, or online. They're just like baby wipes but whatever the cleaning agent on them is, it's safe for parts. I don't know if baby wipes would be safe.

There are baby wipes that are just saline that would be ok... Some of the sensitive skin ones.
 
I know here in the states they use the blue dawn in wildlife without much trouble. Wondering if a cloth with warm dawn water would be the way to go. She has food stuck on her chin. It's coated on. So hoping this adequan will get her feeling better soon. :( I am afraid to handle her too much she just looks like she hurts. I know how it feels when the ol Arthur kicks in and you don't want to be bothered or touched. Thank you everyone.

If she looks greasy I had good results in putting a little cornstarch on my cat, waiting about 5-10 min and then combing it out. It's carbs though so get as much off her as you can so she doesn't lick it off.
 
If you go with the wash cloth option, I would recommend making sure they are quite warm. I fostered a kitty that didn't bathe for awhile when he first arrived. He was okay with a very very warm cloth, but not a luke warm one. I didn't think he would even feel the difference, but it seemed to matter to him.

We did that in the hospital, but can't run a comb through her too many boney bits, gonna try the baby brush. What about blood stains? She has snow white fur and a couple times we have hit the vein on her ears because it runs right along the edge. She shakes her head and blood goes everywhere. Our bathroom looks like a crime scene. Well not That bad but specks everywhere. It's in her fur.
 
I second the hot well wrung wash cloth option, water only. It might be hard to get her properly rinsed off by wiping if you use Dawn in water. You could change the cloth a couple of times to do separate parts of her if you want to clean off as much as you can. Could you manage a gentle rub with a towel afterward?

I groom many cats and some love it some tolerate it and some draw blood!

I agree with many of the comments about taking a warm towel and wiping her down-
However, they do make non rinse shampoos--1 is called "don't worry don't rinse me" we use it sometimes at the grooming shop on messy bottoms.

We have never had a problem with it.

If she is not totally opposed to water you could try filling a bowl with nice warm water and dunking her back end in.
Usually the blow drying is the worst part so if it was me I would have warm (just out of the dryer) towels ready as well as a heating pad.
I would also suggest a secluded room such as a bathroom or a washer/dryer room.

You may be surprised.... I never thought I would be able to groom Rico and started just a few years ago. He got a lion trim on my front step outside yesterday:cat: He is strutting his stuff:smuggrin:

(having her privates shaved may help her feel better and easier to keep clean....finding a compassionate groomer will be the challenge but if you ask around you may get lucky!)

That particular one is actually for hamsters and rabbits and a friend of mine gave it to me. I have used it on my dog and my cats. There are some out there feline specific and I don't really know what the difference in them is.
