Could someone take a look at my chart & see what you think? We're new to this; is it normal to fluctuate this much? His numbers are starting to look better, but then I get a 'HI' reading this morning, which he's never had before.
Thanks for any insight!

Hi Raechel and welcome to you and sweet Phoebe to the L/L group. I see you are testing during the day, so that is great. But I don't see many tests at night. I know we all sleep then, but many kitties inconsiderately decide the night is the time to go lower. My Neko is one of those. In order to get a better idea of how this dose is working for Phoebe, could you get some tests the next couple of nights? I don't mean a lot of tests, maybe something before you go to bed? It is possible that Phoebe is going lower at night and bouncing. For an explanation on bouncing, see the second post here.

I suspect Phoebe may need a dose increase to 1.75U, but am hesitant to suggest it without the night time test data. It could be that she is going low at night and bouncing during the day, in which case she'd actually need a dose reduction.

Welcome , Raechel and Phobos! I agree that you need to get a few night time tests in, but Phobos could even be bouncing from those pretty blues yesterday and two days before that. When a cat's body isn't used to lower BGs it can react to bring things back to where it considers things "safe." The liver will dump glucagon and counter-regulatory hormones to bring things back to what it is used to. Gradually the lower numbers will seem more normal.

Thank you for the replies! That info on the bounce is exactly what I was looking for. I'll see what I can do about getting some nighttime tests in - trying to get dh on board to do some testing, since he's a night owl, but so far it's been a no-go.
