Ok.. this is a CrAzY question.. I feel a bit silly for asking.. but I have two nearly 10 year old furbabies & they are fabulous..
spoiled to death & really quite active for felines.. we play daily, they have each other etc... I have often thought of buying a hamster or something similar for them to watch & keep occupied :-D

Has anyone ever done this? I obviously know that it would have to be a very secure cage.. I want no mishaps ohmygod_smile

Are they indoor cats? If so, maybe a bird feeder outside the window would be a compromise. Mine watch birds and the birds don't seem to notice the cats inside the window. If you think that they need entertainment, how about some videos? I've heard that there are such things for animals. I can't help thinking of the fear for the poor hamster - sitting in a cage with 2 predators watching his every move.

Wow! Great point.. did not even consider the Hamster's feelings.. shame on me! You are absolutely correct ;-)
Thank you for pointing out what should have been the obvious :o
Sadi & Baby will NOT be getting a pet

One of my friends got one of those virtual fish tanks and it keeps her cat entertained. I would never underestimate how determined a cat can be. I used to let my full grown Iguana loose when I was home. I went to the bathroom and then heard a cat yowling....one of my cats had grabbed the Iguana's tail and the Iguana had bitten the cat's ear. There was no serious injury to either but I don't leave them alone anymore ,!
