Good morning Jeanne, just gave her the shot. Somewhere between 2.75u and 3u. I don’t know that I’ll see much of a change today since she took her probiotic. Her stool was a lot more runny last night, I just don’t think it’s working the way it should for her.
 
You may need to switch her probiotics. (I havent heard that they interfere with the insulin action)
I know a lot of people here dont like Fortiflora but it keeps my Zoe's BM's firm but not like rocks. If she doesnt get her fortiflora for a day they get runny. Its a bit pricey but we manage. Its made with animal digest. The stuff they spray on dry food that makes it irresistible to cats.

I’ve heard about this, but for my dog. I tried to buy some but they were out of stock. I don’t know for sure that it has been affecting her BG, but @Critter Mom had even admitted that Peeka didn’t seem to do so well the last time on this probiotic, Imuquin. If anyone is familiar with that.

also got a +1, 398 right now, so seems to be some progress.

I appreciate it, but I want to ask the vet who recommended if what his thoughts are, and if there’s any possibility that it could be causing issues with her BG.

You only increased the dose yesterday, so it's a bit soon to do another increase.
There really wasn't enough time to see if the 2.75U dose would have made a difference in Peeka's BG levels.
Even on the MPM dosing method for Prozinc, you usually hold the dose a minimum of 3-6 cycles.

Peeka was high this morning, with that RED BG number. But she has gone down more than 50% today. That is about the maximum drop you want to see in a cycle. More than that % drop, and the higher they bounce later in the cycle.

I see what you’re saying, I’m just used to Vetsulin drops, so I panic a bit when I don’t see significant drops. Sorry if I’m a bit frantic, I just want to make sure I’m doing right by Peeka. Not sure why she has had steady numbers tonight, I’ll continue testing, but there wasn’t much of a drop at +2.

Based on the above, it sounds like Imuquin only has a prebiotic ingredient (the beta-glucan) but no probiotic ingredients (e.g. L. acidophilus, S. boulardii, E. faecium).

Peter, I see that Peeka got down into the blue BG ranges at the mid-cycle today. So I'd suggest you hold the dose steady for at least 1 more cycle, tonight's PM cycle.

If the mid-cycle BG's this evening, 11/12/20 are not down into the blues again, then you might consider upping the dose again tomorrow morning, 11/13/20.

We know it's really hard to be patient when your cat's BG levels are so high. But you need to give the dose changes sufficient time to see the effects.

Sounds good, I’ll try and get more mid cycles also. That +7 today was a nice surprise, I’m so used to Vetsulin nadir happening around +3 or +4 that I need to remember we’re on a longer lasting insulin and it won’t happen that quickly.

That’s strange, I’m just not crazy how her body reacts when she’s on it, so I think I’ll just do without for now. I still have the b12 cyanocobalamin monthly injections, so I’ll just stick with that.

Today’s attitude was a great indication of her being ok. I’m still realistic about where we are, but it’s encouraging to see her wanting to jump on things, even if she has to claw her way up. It’s progress, so I’ll take it!

Wink took months to recover from the diabetic neuropathy. Getting his BG levels under control was key. But once he was better, he went from barely being able to walk 3-4 steps, to eyeing a jump to the top of the 6 foot bookcases.

That’s the encouraging part. We’re only 3 months into getting serious about getting her diabetes under control, it’s definitely been a slow process, but these types of improvements are encouraging! Wink sounds like quite the handful, looking to make those high jumps.
