Good morning everyone!

Peeka's walk has been hit or miss since we got her back, there are times where I expect her to be in one spot and find out she's actually already made it an extra 10 ft ahead of where I thought she would be. And there are times where she seems to be struggling. Overall, I'm seeing positives though, she looks like she wants to jump up on chairs and other items, sitting on her hind legs more. I woke up this morning to find her sleeping on a little storage bin I have next to my bed that has some of my clothes clothes. It's maybe a few inches off the ground, but it was adorable watching her sleep on my stuff, and when she saw us waking up, she started rubbing herself against them.

She spent some time in the blues last night and this morning, so I'm glad to see her insulin is working again. Been discussing possibly buying Lantus instead of Prozinc since from a cost perspective, it seems to make more sense. I think I would need my vet to fill the prescription though and then forward it to Marks Marine? Still kind of confused about that.

Hope everyone has a good day, working 2nd job starting tonight and all this weekend. Monday is off though, so hopefully a curve and some relaxation for us all!

Correct about the vet Rx needed for Mark's Marine.

I think you're managing well with the regular dose times on the current insulin. If you're able to keep that up +/- about 15 minutes off ideal dosing time and grab AMPS, PMPS, and a minimum of two mid-cycle tests each day (one for AM cycle, one for PM cycle - within reason these can be 'sprinkled' around at different times according to your schedule) then Peeka could potentially do really well on this insulin.

The only issue would be grabbing a later mid day cycle while we are both at work. I've read with the Lantus the Nadir is typically later on, and I don't know that a +2 or even a +3 would help out too much with that regard. Night cycles would actually work a little bit better in my favor especially during the weekends since I wouldn't be able to test until +5 or +6 anyways. I'll keep talking to my wife about it, but just something I was thinking about, especially as price wise it would make more sense to buy a years worth of supplies for a little more.

With Lantus, the +2 test can often give you an indication of how the rest of the cycle might run. It could then inform choices about food to give to Peeka for the rest of the cycle to help keep her in good, safe numbers. You don't need to grab tests later in the cycle every day.

Here's a thread that might be helpful in giving you ideas about where you can snag helpful tests for cats on Lantus when you've got a full work schedule:

Although it's written for people following TR, the ideas it contains for testing strategies can also help with cats on Lantus following SLGS.
