I was so happy I was getting Peanut's numbers to go down a little bit with each cycle for the past 4, considering that I've been missing doses on days and everything is out of whack right now. For those that don't know, I'm moving on the 27th. To say that I'm a procrastinator is an understatement to the nth degree lol and now I'm in ultra turbo mode to get things packed and ready to go. I've been spending my time organizing but needless to say I've been very busy and just out of synch and off schedule so I've not been consistent with Peanut but for the last 4 that I did do I saw that the numbers kept dropping and I was more motivated to make a bigger effort to make certain to not miss doses and get this thing right.
Well today was the last day for my ex boyfriend to be living here and he wanted to spoil his favorite cat Ginger so he went and got some dry food that he uses for treats and decided to just lay out an entire bowl full onto the carpet and said "enjoy yourself buddy." He then left his bedroom and forgot to shut the door, Peanut went in there and just plugged his little tail into the outlet and vacuumed the floor like a Dyson, I know Peanut and that's just what he does, he doesn't even chew. We have separate bedrooms and I was asleep during all of this. He woke me up to get ready to take him to the airport so I got dressed and everything and then right before we left I said "wait, I almost forgot that I need to check Peanut and give him his insulin." So I checked it and saw that it was 421 and I didn't let Peanut know that I was mad. I fed him, dosed him and went on but I told Dan about the number and instantly he knew why, he told me about him giving Ginger the food and said that he must have accidently forgot to shut his door because he was in a rush and more focused on packing his things. He just doesn't understand the gravity of what he's done and that causing Peanut's number to go that high will not just impact him today but probably for a week.
So guys will it be okay if his number goes back down into the 300's or 200's quickly or would I rather it go down slowly? I'm also gonna try to check for ketones when I can. There is a human meter that checks your BG but also tests ketone levels, can we use that meter for the kitty?
