Pawcheck UTI tester

This Pawcheck urine test is great if you suspect your cat has diabetes or is at risk, the testkit is easy to use and comes with the special litter. A blood test still works better to monitor a diabetic cat for insulin dosage.

The UTI urine test is definitely helpful, especially with cats that have recurring UTI. The Pawcheck price is actually reasonable considering that the testkit comes with a litter that cost over $5. A friend of mine used the UTI test a couple of times, and everytime, bingo, the result was positive and her cat had an infection. The other tests you find at Walmart or online are for humans, not sure if they work the same way.

They do work the same way, check for the same things (blood, nitrates, etc). The ones I mentioned in the post above also check ketones, glucose, specific gravity, protein and more:)

My aunt used this type of strips from Wal-Mart once, they check for 10 different things with over 50 colors to match, she found them really confusing. The PawCheck strip seems much easier for home use. Also, how do you collect Katie's urine without the special non-absorbent litter?

I use a ladle. Just stick in under her while she pees:) Easy peasy. They do check for 10 different things, but very easy to read, It's really not confusing. I just mentioned it because I thought those PAW tests were overpriced and you need different paw tests to check for different things The multstix check for everything for a fraction of the cost. I used them for years. I used to have a cat with CRF and used them all the time and now use them for Katie every single day. I just didn't want people to overpay when there is such a convenient alternative.

Hi Kelly,
I never bought them at walmart, they very well may have them, you may have to ask at the pharmacy. They are called Multistix and their are several brands (most popular is Bayer, Siemen's, etc). I purchase then through Amazon, just search Multistix Urinalysis Strips.

Hi Katie'smom, waow, I have never heard anyone using a ladle for cat urine collection, that seems very hard but sounds easy from you :) I have to give it a shot. For the Multistix, I'll tell my friend to try those, since she already tried the Pawcheck, to see if the price difference is justified.
