PATCHES UPDATE TODAY:

Gave her Zorfran this morning and.............

Well, she ate 2 bites today and licked up some AD!!!! YEAH!!! all on her own. Not much, but it is a beginning. I did give her some more syringed AD and she didn't mind it. She just got her pain meds, so she can rest for awhile.

Couple hours is her Orbax and then fluids. :cat:

Yay! If she still seems a bit nauseous, you can add 1/4 tablet of a 10 mg Pepcid, twice a day. I've been giving it to Marshmallow for gastritis and it seems to help. Also, you can raise the food bowl if I didn't say that before. I put two paperbacks under Marsh's bowl so she doesn't have to hunch over. That way they can eat without the acid bubbling up as much.

Just curious why she's getting antibiotics for pancreatitis?

Go Patches, go!!

Her temp was 104.6 at the vet AFTER she had been on Orbax for 2 days, so the vet said there was no way to know how high her temp actually was BEFORE I started the Orbax. Her blood work showed infection to the max. He is keeping her on the Orbax and has also included Amoxi.

She just got her fluids...and i think i did a better job today. went right to the scruff of the neck and poked her there and fluids went right in. Her temp is also down to 103.1...........so things are looking slowly, but definitely better...........

Makes sense. Whatever works! Hope she keeps up the steady improvement!

By the way, if her nausea ever gets bad again (anti-jinx), my vet said Cerenia is a stronger anti-nausea med than Ondansetron/Zofran. If Zofran works for her, then great. Just wanted to throw it out there. :)

Keep eating on your own, Patches!

How is Patches doing now? My Sketch had severe pancreatitis a few months ago. It showed up soon after his diabetes returned (he had been in remission). Three nights of hospitalization with IV fluids, he came home with bupe, cerenia for nausea, clavamox and zeriquin antibiotics, mirtzapine appetite stimulant, and Tumil K potassium supplement, plus insulin. For days we force fed wet food with a syringe, bribed him with Greenies (he would eat those) and human grade tuna. Eventually came around. In our case, it seemed like his appetite improved after we stopped the bupe and then the clavamox.
