PATCHES UPDATE TODAY!

158 at 7am, so gave 1.5u. Seems we may have some sputtering still.

Gave pepcid and 10:40; then gave her 2/3 syringe RS food with lysine at 11:30. Gave her 1/2 orbax and her appetite stimulant.
:banghead:
Shitty hot and humid day out so she is just laying around.....

she is very active and walking around and jumping up by her daddy and everything. BUT STILL NO EATING!!!!

someone advised me to give her Lysine for her respiratory issues..........what is FortiFlora? can i give her both???

FortiFlora is a probiotic powder but can be used to sprinkle a little on food to get kitties to eat. I just opened my first packet yesterday and my boy shoved his face right in! The packet will last longer when used like that too. :)

if it is powder, it can go in the syringe with the RS food....where do i get it from??? Petsmart? Is it ok to mix with the lysine??

Fortiflora is not like an appetite stimulant (like cyproheptadine or mirtazapine(.

It is more like a flavor enhancer...you sprinkle it on food to stimulate their interest in that food. There wouldn't really be any advantage to syringing it in them.

Good luck. I know how frustrating lack of appetite can be.

Correct, what Sandi said. My apologies for any confusion. :). You can get it from your Vet. I do not think it's available OTC.

It just makes the food tasty and helps with digestion. It had a strong scent.... Like a boullion cube. Lol. I put half a pack on my cat Julie's food because she's underweight.... It gets her to eat much more.

It's a probiotic but a lot of people feel it's not strong enough to be very beneficial as a probiotic for cats but it sure works for appetite. I always sprinkle some on top of Leo's wet food that has his medication mixed in to make sure he eats it all. He goes crazy when I reach for the little packets on the counter because he knows what he's getting.
I wasn't aware it could be bought on Amazon without a prescription. I always got mine from Leo's vet. Strange it would even require a prescription to begin with or that you have to get it from a vet.

I think it needed a prescription when it first came out but now it doesn't.

I give it to my under weight cat Julie who I suspect had IBS and is too thin and gets diarrhea. Since starting this 6 weeks ago I can see and feel she's put on a little weight and has had no diarrhea at all.

Hmmm- I'll have to check Amazon, maybe it's less expensive than at my vet's. I think Leo's supplements and meds are costing me more than my own!

I'm having problems with Mister...
He has a toe amputated may 2nd and was finally normal again may 30th

But he started turning down his wellness turkey, chicken, and beef chicken grain free.
He will eat some of friskies mixed grill for a few min and walk away. I've tried different foods but they all spike his bgs.
I think everything high in phosphorus messes with his kidney function.
So he is now nibbling all day on the same plate of food and his bgs stay at 280.
How safe is this fortiflora? Willing to try anything at this point.
Thanks Tina

You'll get more attention to your question if you put up your own thread on this forum. :cat:

My cat Julie is underweight and loves FortiFlora.... It encourage her to eat more.

If it's warm by you that could account for the lower appetite as well. 5 of my 6 are eating noticeably less.
