She did have a spike in the night but we had fed her before giving the insulin. At 8am her bs was 237 and I didn't feed and waited at 8:30 it was 243 so I was thinking a half dose? She gets 1 unit regularly. The spreadsheet says.5 for today but I haven't given it yet.

Nice amps. If you will be around to monitor, you might try a tiny bit more than .5 but less than one? So pull up one unit and squirt out a drop or two. If you are feeling nervous or won't be around, .5 sounds good.

You have some nice momentum going. She is responding well. You may want to consdier getting U100 needles and using the conversion chart so you can shoot numbers like .6 and .4 (will explain later)

Still a bit nervous so just gave her the .5. A couple of questions if her numbers are in a shoot range can I give her the next injection at 8pm even though that's only 11hrs or should I wait till 9pm? Also could the 504 spike at +3 hrs have been from her having ate right before the pmps shot? I know I am loving her newer numbers feel like we are finally on the road to managing this!!!

The 504 could have been a food spike. Or maybe just a reaction (slow start to move up) since the shot was late?

You can shoot easily up to 30 minutes early with ProZinc (if the number is rising). The problem with an hour early is that your next shot would be +13 if you want to stay on your usual scheduled time. So she might be higher than usual. Or not. these early days are all about gathering data so you will see how to adjust the insulin to make it work the best for her.

We have people who shoot regularly at 11/13 instead of 12/12 because their cat consistently has a lower number in the am. But you can't tell that until you have the numbers over time.

Ok so I think I will check her at +10 then 30 minutes later then at +11 since she seems to have gotten the hang of testing and doesn't really mind as long as she gets plenty of chin scratches after. If its not rising then we will just go to 9am to 9pm. Sorry to be such a pain with all the questions but I just want to do this right for her.

No worries. Someone answered all my questions when I was overwhelmed. It's the way this forum works!

And someone once said that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.....

Oh don't worry when that day comes I will be more than happy to help or reassure. this is really scary stuff and its wonderful to know that someone else has been through it and is there for you. Especially if you are like me and have a whole hoard of people in your ear telling you that you are foolish to do this for a cat. Pffft that cat has been there for me more than those naysayers.
