Ok so I am feeling really stupid. Turns out they are u-40 syringes and what the vet actually said was don't use u-100 Only these and she meant the u-40 that she was holding. I got confused I guess cause I saw the 100 on the box and ummm that 100 was how many syringes were in the box. ohmygod_smile I swear I am a reasonably intelligent person so I can't believe I got confused like that. That could have been fatal if I had bought new syringes in u-100. Ok so her dose is actually 1u Prozinc in a u-40 syringe. I bought the new batch of syringes from the vet to make sure I got the right thing and didn't make another mistake. Once again I am so sorry for confusing everyone last night and being such a dope about all this. I promise I will try to do better if you will just hang in there with me when I have my derpy moments.

Well, i am relieved! I was worried about the competence of your vet. No worries. This stuff is complicated and there is so much to absorb at first. I am glad you are giving one unit. That gives us something to work with.

I am relieved too cause I feel better knowing that she prescribed right but that was such a simple thing to check. I shouldn't have been so sure that I was right on what I remembered. I doubled checked the insulin but not the syringes just knew she had said u-100 and that I knew I had seen the 100 on the box.

For future reference to everyone: u100 needles have an orange cap; u40 needles have a red.cap. (Assuming they're insulin specific needles). As far as I know, u40s are intended for vetrinary use only.

Glad to hear everything is all straightened out. I apologize for jumping to conclusions...was just going by what you said you had.
I guess both of us deserve a ohmygod_smile 'slap me up the side of the head'.

One good thing that came out of it though....you now have info about U100 syringes if you ever need to use them.

Well that's a relief!

The info I gave on the syringes still applies. Each tick mark on a U-100 syringe will represent 0.2 units of a U-40 insulin.

Thanks Bookworm I made a note of it.
Misty oh no...you went with the faulty information I had given so you didn't jump to conclusions. Oh yeah I did enough mental slapping upside the head last night to last for a few months at least. Not only that but I will always double check the box before buying to triple make sure its the right one after this mess up.
Yep BJ wrote that info down too just in case its ever needed. Thank you guys for hanging in there with me after all this.

No worries.....we will ALWAYS hang in there with you no matter what. That is why we are all here. :-D
