Patch of fur missing

Hi, my sugar baby, Gobbles, has about a 1" patch of fur missing on the top of his forearm - maybe it fell out or he licked it off or it feel out? Could this be from FD or perhaps his insulin (lantus)? He was diagnosied 10 days ago and has been on Lantus for 6 days.
Any input would be greatly appreciated :)
 
Did the vet do a blood draw? They often do it from the forearm and might've shaved the area.
 
It could be from using that part of his arm to lick, while grooming himself. If you are in a cold weather area, it could be from dry air in the house. A humidifier could help with it. If you pull on his fur, does it stay in or can you pull out small clumps at a time?

Maui had this issue and it turned out that because she spent HOURS laying on a heating pad, it dried out her skin and her fur came out in clumps in my hand. I had to turn off the heating pad (without telling her) and that helped, along with the humidifier.
