A little bit of a backstory.....two years ago today friends of ours were managing a feral colony and knew one of the females Gemma was close to giving birth. It was freezing cold out and had been alternating between snow and freezing rain all day, when Gemma didn't show up at the feeding station like normal, our friends Al and Jenn went looking for her. They found her nudging and licking her 6 kittens but none of the kittens were moving, they were covered in snow and frozen rain. Acting fast Al and Jenn scooped up the kittens, Jenn tucking them all inside her coat, and Al grabbing Gemma and putting her in a carrier they carry in their car at all times. They rushed them all home and took the kittens into the bathroom where they rubbed the kittens with towels and used a hair dryer to warm their frozen bodies. One by one the kittens came back to life, so they made a place for Gemma and her babies on their back porch so Gemma could come and go to her feral family outside but the kittens would be protected from the weather.
When the kittens began to walk and play they returned them to their extended family in the feral colony...fast forward to when the kittens turned 8 weeks old. they noticed two of the kittens weren't doing well their eyes were matted, their noses were running green gunk and they had stopped playing with their brothers and sisters. They knew we had just lost Muse and were broken hearted but since they already had a blind cat of their own, they couldn't bring in two feral kittens so they called us...Could we please, please help out, could we take these two babes in and at least foster then until they got well...please! So off we go to collect the kittens...on the way home we out ran a huge thunderstorm. We named the female Duvessa welsh for dark beauty because of her all black face, and at first we named the one we thought was her sister Elektra which we had to change later to Myrrdin after watching "her" walk away and realizing she had "parts" no girl should have...lol. Myrrdin is welsh for Merlin. Duvessa's middle name is Storm so she is the dark beauty of the storm, and Myrrdin's middle name is Skye so that when you put them together it becomes Storm Skye to honor their humble birth beneath a storm sky and their start as members of the Fur Gang also beneath a storm sky.
Here is their album on photobucket from birth to 1 year old...as soon as I can catch them long enough today I will add their two year old pictures. http://photobucket.com/kittenbabypics
