Pancrease V Powder - Expriry Dates?

Hi, my cat has a flare up again of pancreatitis and is losing muscle on the hind legs. I have a jar of Pancrease V, but the expiry date is spring 2015 - would this still be safe to give to him?

Check with a vet - that is over a year old.
Sniff test - how does it smell?
