Morning,

Last night in checking Junior's feet and doing his R.O.M. on his hind legs, I noticed the large pad on his left foot has started turning brown, is this due to the neuropathy in his legs, poor circulation, just like human diabetics? What do I do? or is there anything to do?

any help would be so appreciated.

thanks for the links, didn't seem to match what I am seeing, it developed within about 48 hours, I check his feet, paws, pads daily because he is diabetic and humans are told to always watch the feet. Working in a doctors office made me think poor circulation because of different pt's we see.

I will keep an eye on it, and try his vet on monday, she takes long weekends. and I always have the emergency vet I can call.

hope it is not anything to get upset about.

and Juniors S.S. should show up, had lots of problems with it, so it is not complete...yet.

Is the foot cold? That would support ciruculatory impairment. Wouldn't wait if it were cold - lack of blood supply could cause tissue death.

Does it seem to hurt?

Have you tried washing it off?

His foot does not feel cold, it doesn't seem to hurt him, he still walks on it, as much as he can with the neuropathy, the left leg is worse than the right and that is the side the pad is turning brown, I have a call into the vet, it doesn't wash off, i put a little Bag Balm on it to see if it is just dry, and he didn't mind it, but it didn't seem to do anything, yet. It almost looks like it could peel off, but i don't want to try that.

keeping an eye on it for now, a close eye.
