Ozzie is going to the oncologist today, a 45 min trip:( . Hoping we can get some information(prognosis, type of cancer, treatment) to help make the best decision for him. I still can see the love in his eyes and not sure if he's telling me to keep trying for him, but it also kills me to see my once vibrant cat reduced to sleeping in my bed all day......praying that god helps make the decision we need to make clear, as this is all so overwhelming and I do not want to have any regrets. He's not eating much and is sleeping all day, hoping we may be able to get him something to make him feel better at the very least.

Give all your kitties extra love and kisses, our time with them is so precious.

I hope the trip gives you some answers, Vivan. My thoughts are that diabetic kitty parents are so used to make the best, even when difficult, choices for their cats, that they make the best one at the end too. You've been the one who cares the most and loves him the best and any, and every, decision you make is out of love and will the right one.

Hope they have some ideas to give him some more quality time with you. If not, then you can give him a great gift, a peaceful passing with you at his side.

Oz saw oncologist friday who thinks we can remove lower lung lobe where mass is. He had stomach ultrasound today which looked clear and CT scan to see chest better.

Hoping we can make a decision soon for him on what is the next course of action, if any.

Has anyone had the lobe removal done on their animal? Onco swears cats tolerate very well, but I'm kinda unsure. Sure it's going to bankrupt me too.

Want to give my guy a break this week from trips to doctors. His limp is much worse :(

Best,
Vivian and Ozzie

Zero experience with any of this but I can understand wanting to give precious Ozzie a break from the doctors. I hope someone here has something more valuable to add but I'm still thinking good thoughts for you guys. I'm editing a novel right now and the main character keeps referring to her "Ozzie (& Harriet) Family" and it always makes me think of your kitty.

I have had 2 cats with cancer. Our Sugar initially had breast cancer then got lung and chest cancer. Withe lung cancer we initially thought it was confined to the lung lobe and were going to do the surgery which has a high rate of success. It turned out that it had metastisized to her pleura too so we had to let her go.

I have a pet parent cancer support group on Facebook. If you are on Facebook and would like to join it, let me know.

A friend of mine cat just had surgery for lung cancer and follow up chemo and is doing great. She didn't even get sick from any of it and is considered cured. Good luck.

Thanks both. Sorry to hear about your kitty:(

Ozzie has multiple small nodules in his lung in addition to the large tumor, so surgery is out.

Not sure what to do. This is so draining.

I've joined the group, thanks for sharing.

Thank you Vivian. It was devastating to let Sugar go. She had a mastectomy, then a lumpectomy for a recurrence and five rounds of chemo. We had just celebrated her one year anniversary of being in remission and less than a month later she was gone.

I'm so sorry to hear about the multiple nodules and that surgery is not an option for Ozzie.

I've added you to the group - we'll help in anyway we can.

Take care,
Jeanette
