Great job tonight! For some reason, cats often like to go lower at night and so, as Amy said, many of us are sleep deprived.
If numbers drop quickly from PS to +2, you want to feed the drop to slow it down. Many members feed on a schedule at PS, +1, +2, +3 but Ozy might not need that kind of feeding schedule. Many others here just free feed. Because every cat is different (ECID), you have to figure out what works for Ozy.
For now, if he drops early in the cycle, I'd feed when he is dropping. Keep in mind the higher he is, the bigger the drop you could potentially see. For example, some cats are 400 at PS and 200 at +2. But if you start at 150, he doesn't have 200 to drop, right? So it's all relative.
The other thing is being able to tell a dropping number from a second Lantus dip.
A dropping number is usually seen when the PS is the highest number of the day and the BG drops all the way to the next PS. Shooting dropping numbers can allow you to take advantage of carryover and overlap but it's a good idea to get some help if you are shooting a lower dropping numbe.
A second Lantus dip is what you saw today. His BG came down, he nadired at 167, came back up to 202 and then dipped again at PMPS. These are generally safe to shoot without stalling but any time you shoot green for the first time, you probably want to get some help. On a second dip, it does not usually go lower than the nadir.
