overgrowing cat?

Hello all-

Newly diagnosed diabetic cat for a little over a week. Blood sugars were over 500 and he lost about 4 pounds. started on insulin and accuchecks. He's never over groomed before. Now we are noticing spots of baldness on him on underarms, paws. He does have a thunder jacket on with a cobain dressing to protect his libre sensor. Anybody go through this? Any suggestions to help him?
 
just to low carb food. all ingredients appear the same. I was wondering allergies but questioning maybe with being newly diagnosed diabetic and blood sugars dropping down maybe? Maybe balance thrown off? Not sure? He's caught on to insulin shots and is not a fan.
 
Have you had Chance's thyroid check. It would perhaps be a part of a regular basic health panel (such as the IDEXX Total Health Plus Basic) or a Senior panel.

It did not happen with my sugar cat, but stress is a known factor in causing cats to overgroom. I do have quite a few cats who overgroom for various reasons, but this just didn't happen with my diabetic boy. Sorry to not be of more help.
 
I will say only one more thing that just occurred to me. I do know of one person whose cat had a very negative reaction to having a Libre sensor put on them. Seems an RF device on their body did not agree with them.
 
Could you please put in your thread title the following:

4/12 Chance AMPS (whatever the number is), any other BG values you have for today (+3, +6 whatever) and then your question. That's the format we use. It helps us a lot to keep track of the dates and what is going on with everyone's kitties.

It would look like this:

I was wondering maybe. It's all new. I'm going back to the vet monday for a follow up so will check that out. I just figure this is all new for all of us. He was one sick kitty so I'm sure all this change isn't good. He was done to 7.5 pounds from 11 pounds. we weighed him today and he has gained a pound so hopefully everything levels out soon and his life gets simpler for him. No worries! I'm glad to have ideas thrown out there. You never know when something clicks.
