I usually post on the PZI board, perhaps there are more readers here on this holiday weekend...we started Lucy on ProZinc about six weeks ago, this uncharacteristic (!) number this morning:
AMPS
+68
Didn't feed, then 20 minutes later
+64
Obviously No Shot
Just fed 1/2 can FF

I just discovered a can of Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers in our cupboard, I will feed her some of that now, that's all I can come up with for a plan. She is acting normal. Advice greatly appreciated.

Good morning, and what a surprise! Great going on waiting to retest and the no shot!

With no insulin on board, 60s are great numbers! I'd plan on testing a couple more times to be sure she's not dropping. I'd also go ahead and feed her.

No need for hypo foods, if you haven't already fed the gravy lovers. If you have, no worries. her numbers will be higher due to the gravy.

Should I NOT have fed the Gravy Lovers? You should have seen me rummaging through the cupboards like a mad-woman. Daughter's wedding went off beautifully last night. Maybe Lucy is feeling the general relief around the household.

Don't worry about it...it's only food.

Lucy may have higher readings because of the gravy...just keep that in mind when you test, ok?

Your instincts were right on the money when you saw the low number. Great job! :-D We worry about hypo when we see low numbers (near or under 40 is hypo) WITH insulin on board.

It's hard to keep that last little piece in mind when that low number jumps out at us. :-D

Keep in mind, she may have a higher reading for PMPS, but I would not dose based on that number. At maximum, I'd shoot half of the lowest dose...if even that.

For future reference, when it.s bewn 12+ hours since her last shot, you don't realky need to worry about a hypo. The insulin you gave is gone-anything in her system is natural.

I don't worry about low numbers unless they're under 50 or early in the cycle when still dropping.

This was a first time event, I didn't think about the fact that she didn't have any insulin on board. Another piece of the puzzle clicks.

Printing this to add to my fridge door mini reference guide.

Thank you for helping me out this holiday weekend.
