I have seen may questions about how this works, so I thought I would share our experience in hopes that it might offer some insight as to how to get it done.

First, when we got the prescription, my last name was added to Frank's. I am not sure if him having a "people" name had anything to do with our success in obtaining the discount. When I filled out the form on the site, I had to try Frank, my name, then finally it accepted Frank and my last name in the name spot. I figure if you can actually get them to write it in your name, it can't hurt. Anyway, we had already bought a glass vial before we applied for the coupon on the site. Again, not sure if that helped or not, but the site checks the cat's name against a database. What I am sure about, is if you manage to get the site to let you print the coupon and the pharmacy will fill it, your pharmacy needs something called a DEA number in order to give you the discount. Apparently not all vets have this so you will want to ask about that. We did not know about this before we went through the process and it resulted in a lot of phone tag and wasted gas going back and forth from the pharmacy thinking they had things worked out.

When you get the coupon, it will save you up to $100 on your prescription wich netted about $50 in total savings for us since the pens are more expensive at full price. It's $100 off per prescription up to $600. We got the five pens so my thought is that if you can find a pharmacy that will sell you three pens, you'll probably do better savings-wise.

So, that is my input on the subject. I apologize if it is rpeated information. I had seen in a few placs where the process seemed to be a hit and miss thing, and perhaps it is. I figured the more information that can be compiled increases the chance we can figure out the formula for this process. At the very least, maybe this will save someone some time after they get the coupon, when trying to get the script filled.
