I'm pleased to say that Butkus has not had any shots in almost 3 weeks. From what I have read, they are considered OTJ after 2 weeks correct?
I'm very relieved but also hesitant because it seemed to go too smoothly. I'm so glad I stared testing when I did because I think this could have ended very badly if I hadn't. From the time I stared testing, Butkus was in normal ranges so I just stopped the insulin completely and removed all dry food. So far he's stayed quite level.
Is this normal? I think I read on here that sometimes when bg's come down the pancreas can start to work again on it's own. Maybe that it what happened.
I'm so thankful for the advice and information I have received from everyone here. I have to admit I kind of feel guilty when I've read so many scary stories. These 3 months have been far from stress free but compared to some other stories I feel very lucky.
So now what? Do I keep testing him daily? Weekly? Can he relapse anytime?
