This is where the machines really start confusing me. 43(Human Meter) is healthy but low and 81(Pet meter) feels a ton better for a morning read.
One thing it does tell me is that his pancreas must certainly be making insulin if I had him up to 78 on the human meter several hours ago.
Anyhoo , Happy day 7 off the juice.

It sounds like Obie is just one of those kitties that naturally has low BGs. Be careful comparing numbers or you'll drive yourself crazy. I know from personal experience.

Just wanted to pop in and say congrats on Day 7! I'm the "Shelly & Jersey" several members mentioned in yesterday's condo. I haven't been posting much, but I am a world-class lurker. ;-)

Jersey loved to throw me 30s (human meter) during our OTJ trial and even afterwards. We never gave high-carb food when she threw us those low numbers. We just fed her the regular ol' low-carb food. One thing I did notice is that we got higher readings after we opened a new package of test strips. The strips we were using were close to 6 months old, and we were consistently getting 30s and 40s with them. After switching, we started getting more 50s and 60s. (We're approaching the 3-month mark on the strips we're using now and just got a 39 on our last reading.) I don't know if the age of the test strips has anything to do with the numbers, but I wanted to mention it just in case. When we were on insulin, we went through test strips like crazy and didn't have to worry about expiration dates. Now, I have to make myself reminders to buy new strips. ohmygod_smile

Congrats again!
Shelly

I hear you on the using both meters thing. He was 45 on his last reading which is peachy on the Human and 67 on the Pet meter which is low.
Stupid stupid machines!
:YMSIGH:

you don't have to keep testing him on both meters. I only meant yesterday that if you were going to call the vet, it would be good to have an ATrak # to provide.

Looking good, james! congrats on day 7!!!

and waving HI to Shelly! We've missed ya!

Congrats on day
