I've been pretty busy today but I finally had some time to sit down and write a proper comment.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has come to celebrate with us, I appreciate every single one of you! I cannot thank you all enough for every bit of support and love. I feel like this has been my second home for the past 4 months. I came in overwhelmed and feeling like I would never be able to handle this but look at me now and it's all thanks to the support I received here.

I don't wish to leave anyone out because I am so grateful to every person who has read any of my posts and those of you who have just met Tessa and are here doing a happy dance along with us but I have to give a special thank you to a few people.

Bhooma, you were the very first person who commented on one of my daily threads and I don't think you've ever missed checking in on me throughout this entire journey. Thank you so much for all the hand holding you provided me. You gave me tips on how to use food to keep her blood glucose levels from going too high or too low. You cheered me on when I stopped using the Freestyle Libre and moved to manual testing (and became a testaholic). And you gave me those gentle nudges to increase or decrease her dose when I was dragging my feet lol.

And of course I have to thank @Diane Tyler's Mom as well. You have been a big help to me since the very beginning. You were there providing information/resources so I didn't have to go hunt it down myself. You made sure I knew about how to get affordable insulin and how to test her. I was so overwhelmed by the vast amounts of information I needed to learn and it was so helpful for you to provide targeted information as I needed it. And you've been there cheering Tessa on every step of the way too, your comments in my daily threads never failed to put a smile on my face.

Tessa also says thanks for the party. She got her presents earlier and she loves them. After we played with her new toys, she laid down in her cozy new bed and took a nap. We gave her dinner earlier and then she got right back in the bed to lay down. I think she's pretty happy lol.

It still doesn't feel real that she's off the juice but she is and it's all so exciting. I can't wait to call the vet and let her know. And even better, I can't wait to SLEEP IN tomorrow for the first time in 4 months! Thank goodness for timed feeders lol.

I know right! I still shake my head in wonder when I think of that transition. Thank you for taking the time to author that amazing document on the Libre. I share it with newbies using the Libre both here and on our FB group. :bighug:

Enjoy uninterrupted sleep. That's every sugarcat parent's ultimate fantasy! LOL. :smuggrin:

I really have to ask.... does Tessa let you sleep in??? Kitkat still gets in our face right around test time:cat::cat: 2 weeks in..... "hey are you forgetting something mom????"

She did let us sleep in! We set the timed feeder to open at our normal wake up time and we slept in another hour past that. Tessa has always been pretty good about not waking me up though, I think it's because when I normally wake up I do my entire morning routine (get dressed, go to the bathroom, brush teeth, drink some water, etc.) and then feed her. So there's less of a connection of mom is awake = food. She still follows me around in the morning once I'm up but she doesn't wake me up. She's very polite with her requests for food lol.
