I've had arthritis in my hands since my 20s. I now have both Osteo and inflammatory in pretty much all my joints. I'm going to have a finger (middle one on my left hand) fused in December, then joints replaced in the ring and pinkie fingers on first my right hand, then my left hand, with three months between each surgery. Hopefully that will give me more use and less pain. They don't do joint replacement in the middle or index fingers (high rate of failure), so fusion was the only option there. Hoping I won't have to have the index fingers fused down the road. I'd say fingers crossed, but that would hurt!
