Hey folks,

Boo cat has been off insulin for nearly 2.5 weeks. Her readings have been between 137-138 without insulin. The last two days she has stopped eating entirely. She's on Salix twice a day to help with a fluid sac on her right lung. I've tried just about every wet food on the market and nothing is peaking her interest. She was just licking gravy last week, this week she has been refusing all food. She is still drinking water and using litter box with some help.

I'm also wondering if she is wanting to cross that kitty rainbow and this is the first stage.

Thanks for any suggestions

When a kitty has not eaten for two days, I'd say it's time for you to take her in to see your vet, pronto. As there can be so many different reasons why she is not eating. Please see the vet right away - and let us know what you find out.:bighug:

ETA: Sending healing vibes your way for Boo cat!:bighug:

Wanted to jump in.. my cat went from healthy to nearly dead from anorexia in three days last December. The vet repeated to me over and over the cat should never have an empty belly. I would force feed a bit if you can with a syringe and get to the vet.

I am on a serious budget and avoid the vet as much as possible but this is 911 for your cat. You need to get her there before she is anorexic.

Fingers crossed she's just not feeling too hot and is on the mend ASAP. It could be nothing but it could be something like hepatic lipidosis, which is totally treatable but needs immediate attention.

Good luck and keep us updated <3

My options were presented from the vet. Either stress her out with draining more fluid from the lung and appetite stimulants or take her in for the kitty rainbow shot.

A very difficult decision for you ... and only you can know exactly what your kitty is going through, what she can tolerate, and what is best in your situation. My thoughts & prayers are with you. (((Hugs)))

If your cat is doing well otherwise and can withstand having fluids drained from her lungs again, the appetite stimulants often work well.
You best know what your cat can tolerate. It is a tough decision, never easy.

I'm so very sorry you are facing such a hard decision. You know your kitty best, and know what stresses she can tolerate. As Cat Ma said, the appetite stimulants often work well, if you think she can tolerate the lung procedure. I have no doubt you will make the choice that is the best for your kitty, but only you know what that is. Sending you strength, prayers and hugs.

Thank you all for the support, hugs, and kitty love. Boo passed today. She has gone over the Kitty Rainbow and is no longer in pain.
