Cedric has been OTJ since 5/21, after having used Lantus for a month. I have been testing him since (see spreadsheet) and have gone down to once per week testing (but I seemed to have missed a couple of weeks from late September to early Oct; note I rescued a stray cat which was quite stressful to me).
Since he's been OTJ, his numbers are usually in the 60s. He gets about 6 oz of Wellness canned every day, served in 4 small meals through the day: 6am, auto feeder between 10 & 11am, auto feeder between 3& 4 pm and again at 8pm. Since Dallas has come into our home (he's the stray cat I rescued), Dallas is kept in my BR when I am not home, at this point to keep him from eating Cedric's food (what, you mean I can't eat his too, says Dallas...). They get along pretty well, although Cedric does "watch him" a bit. I am wondering if this is affecting Cedric's BGs.
Here are the BGs for Cedric since Dallas came home on 9/12:
9/14 63@5:30pm between meals 3 & 4
9/24 64@9am between meals 1 & 2
10/14 77@6:25pm *
10/21 83 @ 6:25am - he had eaten about 1/2 of his morning meal, equating to about 2 tablespoons, maybe a little less (eaten, not served). He's a slower eater than Dallas, and when he walks away I will pick up his food and give it to him later (when I am downstairs to watch or Dallas has been put in my room prior to me leaving for the office).
*I have been finding that Cedric is not eating his auto feeder food as much as he used to. Many times I have come home to find that he has not eaten his 2nd meal (I am usually home by 5pm) and he will eat it right then. Dallas gets fed again when I come home (he is given a frozen meal along with a little cold meal when he is put in my room for the day). Cedric is now given his 3rd meal a little later than the auto feeder (if he doesn't eat what is in there). They are both fed again at 8pm.
Any thoughts on why his BGs are higher than normal? Should I test him more frequently to try to help spot a problem? I realize 70s - 80s aren't bad, but he's been pretty consistent all summer. confused_cat
I did post this in Lantus, but wanted to post it here for other opinions...
