Back when Blackie was first diagnosed, I was given several cans of different things to try out on her, and one of them was Wellness Turkey. I opened it to give to her UTI patient son, Jr. Mint, as he's not eating the Evo anymore (both wet and dry). When I opened the can, it looked like there was a bit missing from the top. Also, the can was dented on the side. The fact that there was a bit of food missing from the top, does that mean it's not fit for consumption? I don't remember hearing any hissing noise when I popped the can open, though. I did feed him a small amount as he hasn't eaten much at all today. Thankfully, I found a can of Friskies' Special Diet in the cupboard, which is formulated for UTI patients. I gave him a bit of that and mixed in the Evo 95% Chicken & Turkey with it to get him to eat something. Plus, don't need a bowel issue with him, either, although I do expect something from him bowel related later due to the Friskies.

Thank you. I'm a bit concerned about the Wellness. Thankfully, it's very low in magnesium, which is what he needs. He's also losing more weight.

I'd be more concerned about not hearing anything when you opened it than the shrinkage. the former could mean that the vacuum was compromised when it got dented. The shrinkage is common. Cans are filled hot and the contents shrink as they cool. i've seen it in a number of types of food.

Thanks, Ann. I had only given him a very small amount as I wasn't sure. The dent is in the side, not the top. I don't remember how long it was in the box for. I'll have to check to see if there's a due date on it.
