Trouble, GA

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness and tears that I report Trouble, the stray that was living on my patio crossed the bridge on 4/19. He was left behind due to an eviction along with 4 others. The other 4 disappeared but not Trouble. He would meet me at the gate when I returned. He loved being combed and fussed over. He was also a talker. He went missing about a month ago, when he returned he had a nasty wound in the left side of his neck. I tried to catch him to take him to the vet but he was elusive and not around when the vet was open. I finally succeeded this morning. In fact, he walked right into the carrier and never said a word on the trip to the vet. He knew he needed help . I had been cleansing the wound with saline solution and applying antibiotics. I could not bandage due to the location and fear he would get caught on something. According to the vet he was about 5 years old. He was an intact male. He had a high fever and needed extensive surgery to repair his neck. Prior to surgery he was tested for Felv/Fiv. He tested positive. I had the choice of confining him to a cage for the rest of his life, after a complicated surgery, which she estimated would take 4-6 weeks to recover from, if he could recover. I did not feel it was fair to lock him up for the rest of his life. He was a sweet boy. He was used to coming and going at will. I have cried my heart out but know that I made the right decision. He is not suffering anymore. He crossed surrounded by love.

Tuffy will miss him. She looks for him at feeding time. Although she did not appear to like him, when he came for meals, she would always tell me he was here.

Fly free sweet Trouble, you are missed. I hope your time with us provided you with the love and affection you so wanted.
When we meet again, freed from the demands of this existence, With your presence, as with the presence of all our GAs will the beauty of eternity be complete.

We love youTrouble.

When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free!

Miss me a little, but not for long,
And not with your head bowed low,

Remember the love the we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go!

For this a journey we all must take,
and each must go alone,

It is all a part of the Master's plan
A step in the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go!

(((((Barbara))))) I am so sorry about Trouble. Yes, you did the right thing, by him and by the other cats he would have infected if he had run loose. Please take comfort in the good life that you gave him.
Liz

I'm so sorry for your loss Barbara. It's so sad, how people can do what they do, I'm sure foreclosures are tough on everyone, but to just leave pets behind is sick. It was so nice of you to give Trouble some happiness for his short lifetime.

(((Barbara))) so sorry about Trouble, but it was the right thing to let him go versus the no quality of life he would have had with the other choice. He is free of pain and all our GA kitties will help him cross over. I know you will miss him and he was lucky to have your love. Hugs.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Just remember you gave Trouble a loving home for a while. You made his life better. As hard as the choice was, you did the right thing. He won't have to have an unhappy life and won't suffer if he were to get sick from the FIV. He's free and whole now. I will be praying for you.

I'm so sorry for your loss .. I hope you can take comfort in knowing he is at the rainbow bridge now, healthy and happy .. Fly Free Trouble ..

Barb--My heart goes out to you you know that--He would have gotten more sick perhaps, & there was no guarantee that he would have survived...I am so sorry you had to make the choice--I love you & Tuffy & all your fur kids--You have the kindest heart for animals of anyone I have ever known
And you know everything about animal medicine, more than anyone I know!--Hugs of comfort My Friend!

Thank you for reaching out to Trouble and making him part of your family. Tuffy is not the only one who is missing this gentle, little boy.

Fly free Trouble and land softly.

Dear Barbara,
You gave Trouble the kindest gift: lots of love, lots of respect, and a peaceful crossing. They come into our lives in so many ways, and this little guy was very lucky to have found you. We will light a candle for him tonight to guide his way to the Bridge, where he will find many new friends to welcome him. Thank you, Barb, for caring and for doing what you could to help him.

Fly free, Trouble, you will be missed and you are loved,

Ella & Rusty & Stu (GA)

There are not enough or adequate words... I know in my heart that you made the right decision for Trouble, as tough as this one had to have been. He was so lucky to have found you, and the love you gave him. he will never be far away... always close in your heart, and your mind's eye. May there be comfort there for you.

Mannie ad I will light a candle for Trouble.... Fly free Trouble, land softly at the bridge. You will be Missed.

(((Barb))) I'm so sorry that Trouble had to cross the bridge but now he is pain free. You are amazing for all you did for him and for the love you showed him.

Oh, Barbara...This is so sad to see. My heart goes out to you, my friend.

Poor guy...but he knew your love before he crossed...and what a gift that was!

Land softly, Trouble-
and may you know only joy on the other side.

Barbara you are my hero. You loved this young guy and cared for him when he was abandoned.
You knew it would be too cruel of a future if he had to live his life confined to a cage if he even survived the complicated surgery. You saved him from that fate even though the decision hurt you so much.

((((Barbara))))

Barb I'm so sorry to hear about Trouble. What a beautiful gift of love and companionship you gave Trouble the last part of his life. He is free now playing and enjoying a "trouble-free" life with all the kitties....a life that you unselfishly allowed him to have.

((((Barb))))

oh barbara, i'm so sorry. life isn't fair, is it - that this little guy got so many problems. your love must've been a bright spot in his life. he was lucky to have you and your kindness, right til the very end. :YMHUG:

Barbara, you are such a loving person. Trouble had the great blessing of crossing your path. You're the best thing that ever happened to him; you were there to deliver him safely to the bridge. Sending you hugs, and lighting a candle to shine on Trouble as he lands safely across the bridge.

What an agonizing decision you had to make but like all the others you did right by him. Although that never makes the choice any easier. Saying goodbye always hurts like hell no matter what the conditions are. Take comfort in the life and love you shared with him and know he came back to you in the end as someone he obviously loved and trusted.
