OT: This week's photos

Good morning!

I hope everyone is staying safe! I know of a couple of members that have family that have tested positive; sending lots of hugs and vines!

I continue to go out each morning when weather permits and I try to go places where I'm reasonably confident there won't be a bunch of people. It certainly helps that I'm going out the door around 7:00 am!

Unfortunately the one place that is totally closed off to me now is Woodland, where the one baby owl is. Long story but a photographer friend (well ex-friend now) called to complain about people gathering there (I was there, we were at least 10-12 feet apart) and now they've closed their gates. So unless they change their mind, no more pictures of this owl family :(

Apparently the warblers have made it into deep Southern Ontario so with the right weather and winds they should be showing up here within a few days.

New additions to my backyard.....a Fox Sparrow, a White-Throated Sparrow, and I have two female Red-Winged Blackbirds although I don't know if I have two males.

This weeks photos.....the female Great Horned Owl, a Northern Flicker, a Pied-Billed Grebe, a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, a Savannah Sparrow, a Red-Tailed Hawk and an Eastern Phoebe!

Thank you so much for your interest in my photos! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Your photos are awesome!!! I have been watching a Flicker drill a nest into my neighbor's tree, and a squirrel has been checking it out to see if it's big enough. I also have a Swainson's hawk that hangs out on the pole near our yard and dives down to the creek bed dam thingys that snakes use to warm themselves to get him (or her) self a meal. We have an abandoned crows nest across the way that gets many visitors like the hawk as a perch and of course the squirrels going in and out. Nature is so amazingly beautiful if we take time to watch & listen.

Love the pictures!! As usual, they brighten up my day! Hope you are doing well. I’ve been away for a bit, busy sewing masks for my coworkers.

Thanks Linda! Yes, nature is amazing! I didn't learn this until about 8 years ago when I had a camera in my hands; I really wished I had paid attention much sooner!

Oh! and a Mallard couple that comes to eat the spilled birdseed in our yard, even in 6 inches of snow!
We had a Mallard couple for a couple of summers. I named them Daisy and Duke lol. They were fun to watch.....he would drop by and would obviously be looking for Daisy......he would waddle around our yard then eventually take off.

Great pictures. Sorry someone complained and got the Woodland closed.
Thanks Carla! I just read on Facebook that apparently they are going to open from 5:30 to 8:00 each evening (after their staff have left). Now...if you want to discourage people gathering at a spot why would you severely limit the accessibility? Makes no sense to me at all.

My son came over yesterday & we went to the forest preserve for a walk. We were amazed how many people were there. Must have been 100! Everyone was having a good time. Kids playing, Dogs running around. It all felt right ,normal.
I know not everyone agrees, but we were OK with it . My area is surrounded by Forest preserves. In the summer you can't find a place to park. That's how it felt yesterday! Everyone is longing to get back to normal.

Your photos are always so artistic. They bring joy to all of us! One of my "spirit " animals is the OWL, so I just LOVE this photo of the Female Owl. I feel very drawn to it. I hope you don't mind but I printed it on a sheet of paper & taped it above my computer.

Thank you Judy. Your photos always make me happy. :bighug:
