Good morning!
Well I don't have very much to share this week, the weather hasn't been very cooperative and car problems kept me at home on one of the nice sunny days  The good news is that spring migration has already begun; I saw my first 2020 Redwing Blackbird at Saunders Pond 2 days ago and yesterday we made another trip to Long Point and there were lots there! The blackbirds are a couple of weeks early so hopefully a sign that spring weather will be here sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, we're expecting several inches of snow tomorrow :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm going to miss 2 weeks of spring migration this year; DH has booked us a trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico so we'll be there the last 2 weeks of March. We haven't been there in 10 years, we got married there almost 13 years ago at a restaurant called Le Kliff; the restaurant is built into the side of a cliff and overlooks the ocean and we got married at sunset. I was just getting started in photography last time we were there and wasn't into wildlife photography yet so I'm hoping to see lots of different wildlife while I'm there this time.

Today's photos are of Sandhill Cranes and Mute Swans (both taken in Long Point) and our local female Bald Eagle (that was hunched up against a cold wind).

Stunning . . . as usual!

Too bad about the upcoming snow, but getting away to Mexico *should* be able to make up for it! ;) Enjoy!!!

I finally caved in and got a Nikon D300 from Henrys Judy. $3,000 ten years ago, now $300 with a new battery and memory card. I've got Nikon lenses out the wahzoo and an enormous Manfrotto tripod, all stuff that got put away years ago because I went completely overboard with what I thought was a hobby. :banghead: :blackeye:
Have a nice time in Mexico, two weeks away from mud season sure sounds nice.

Have fun with your new camera! What do you like to photograph? Yeah, photography is one of the most expensive hobbies!

I love outdoor stuff and oddball things like old industrial things, bridges etc. Natural light makes everything easier.
I love life's little treasures. My nephew before he became a tyrant and his great grandmother going to church. Not a great shot but two weeks after this shot of my niece and her best friend she was gone from meningitis. And the all-too-easy, Nigel loved the camera and knew he was a pretty boy. A point & shoot worked just fine.

Just beautiful Judy and please enjoy your vacation, you’ve definitely earned it

Oh Judy! That's so exciting! Love your photos as usual!

We used to go to PV - several years in a row. We stayed in Mismaloya a couple of times and at the Sheraton Bougainvilla a few times; once at Los Tulas - we used to really love it there. But there was a hurricane that took out a lot of the places - little restaurants on the beach and some others were damaged....then the issue with the cartels - the last time we were there was in 2010 with all the family - it was a fabulous trip...but we noticed signs of unrest as military troops were patrolling the streets in vehicles armed with machine guns. But the people were friendly and we felt comfortable...until we started hearing news here and there and we stopped going...oh how I miss Mexico...but now we're in Florida all the time...so we're not seeking the great weather of Mexico.

I'll be looking forward to your photos and tales of how things are going there in PV! I used to have a jewelry store there where I was such a good customer they took DH and I out to breakfast one Sunday morning when the store was closed. Needless to say I bought a lot of jewelry there... It was a good time!

Please do post pics of PV - I'll be looking forward to it!!

P.S. My son was at our home in Michigan and recorded some video and asked me if I could hear 'those weird birds'...the sandhill cranes are back in the neighborhood - already! They have such an odd sound and they're apparently setting up housekeeping already! Amazing!

Enjoy your day Judy!

Sounds like a great way to celebrate your anniversary. Hope you get lots of good birding while you're in Mexico. How neat that spring migration has already begun where you live. We have tons of snow (more than 2 feet) and our "regulars" (chickadees and now 3 goldfinches) are hanging out at the feeders. I also hear cardinals, nuthatches, and bluejays, but they seldom visit my feeder site. Have a good week, Judy.

Gorgeous photos, @Judy and Boomer . I love birds, especially sandhill cranes. There’s nothing like being out for a quiet walk in the woods, and hearing their faint squawky cries - I always stop dead in my tracks and try to spot the flock, way, way overhead.

I’ve never been to Puerto Vallarta... I’m more of a Playa del Carmen gal ;) Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks Kat! And I think I was in Playa del Carmen once briefly, when we got caught in Hurricane Wilma many years ago!

UGH to the 2 feet of snow! We've been under weather warnings for the last 3 or 4 days, finally a break today! We got 5 or 6 inches of snow and that's quite enough! I saw 2 goldfinches in my trees earlier today when I was out stalking a Carolina Wren (finally got a decent shot of it just about an hour ago, what a cute little bird!).

Thanks Sue!
I was last in Puerto Vallarta in 2010 as well! I love Mexico but every time I go there something goes wrong. So in 2010 I thought I had made it through the 2 weeks ok then our last night there my kitty sitter emailed.....one of my cats had kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. Needless to say I was devastated! Then something went wrong with our plane and our trip home ended up being delayed by over 24 hours....not usually a big hardship when you're in Mexico but all I wanted to do was to get home, go to the er vet and say good bye to my Peanut.

Oh my...I'm so sorry to hear that :(

I told my son that if anything bad or unexpected happened with the cats, not to tell me until we got home. Sometimes I had enough stress to deal with on those trips...and I just couldn't bear to hear about something like that - out of my control - doesn't help the stress at hand - I can't do anything about it - and it's upsetting.

The photos are beautiful and I suspect you'll find many lovely things to photograph while on vacation. What do you do with your photos? I can't imagine that you don't have a way to share them or don't have a following.

Thanks Sienne! I have several sites that I post on including Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/JudyMTomlinsonPhotography/). I sell some occasionally and I have photo cards in a couple of stores. Mainly I do it because I enjoy it!
