Today up until an hour ago sucked. This morning I got hit in the head by a tree branch. At noon I broke a pencil lead off in my foot so I'm limping. Then as I hobble out to the truck to go pick up Jon I get a call from a dear friend that he put down his 18 year old kitty. It was time but still hard to hear.

Then we stop by dad's to check on him. I didn't go in but when Jon came out he had a Cheshire grin and tossed me a set of keys. TO MY NEW HOUSE!!!!

To back up some Jon's dad has had this rental house that I have loved since I was a child and would walk by it on my way home from school. This place is gorgeous..pictures will be posted.

But now I have to pack up and move. 18 animals and 7 years of stuff.

Thats great news Mel! well except for the first part! I said when I bought this house Im never ever moving again! just hate moving, but hey if someone gave me a house, now thats different! What a great and generous gift from your Dad too. As for that pencil lead in your foot, be careful and get it out quick. :o .lead is not a good thing to have in your body ..so sorry about the dear kitty too  Well, happy moving and good luck with all the fur babies. :-D

Congrats on the new place!

And fingers crossed you can keep the mayhem controlled for the cats!

The good news is that pencil leads are not lead anymore, they are graphite and wont do much to you, other than hurt.

Moving.... oh my! so glad to hear this is a house you want, but holy Hanna girl, that is going to be one heck of a move! Good luck!

For once in my life I can't wait to move and get the babies settled because they are going to LOVE the new place. They are going to have so much more room. My entire current house would fit in the livingroom of the new place. They will have their own enclosed sunroom as well as a covered deck right off the sunroom that we are planning on putting up bird and squirrel feeders so they'll have kitty t.v. lol

There are some trade offs the new kitchen is smaller but better arranged and it has a Butler's pantry. So while I lose cabinets in the kitchen proper I gain a ton in the pantry (no pantry at all in the current house). There is a mud porch off the kitchen with a full bath and laundry...no more stairs to do laundry. Yay !!!

The new place is literally two blocks from Dad so very easy for us to check on him. Now get this in those two blocks is my vet's office, my computer repair guy and my hair stylist. Plus its a corner lot so only neighbors on one side and there is a coffee shop out my back door.

Now the downside since this place is going back as a rental all the decorating and painting I've done here needs to be redone back to white. But that will be much easier because the kids will be at the new house.

OMG we so don't have enough furniture to even begin to fill the new house lol. Mommy gets to go shopping!!

Woohoo!!! What a great way to turn around a bad day, probably one of the best... new house! The house sounds amazing, and I think it's so much fun that it's one that you've admired since you were kid. I do not envy you one bit the move and getting the fur gang settled, but it will all be worth it when it's done. Can't wait to see the pics.

To give you all an idea of how much of an upgrade the new house is from the old one. Our current house is a total of 738 sq ft. The new house is 1,311 sq ft on the main floor not counting the unfinished basement or enormous attic.

Sounds great! I am so glad you will have so much more room.

My aunt and uncle bought an old house back in 1978 that they still live in. It had a small kitchen and a larger pantry. You get used to go in there to get stuff (mostly glasses) even though they renovated the kitchen a couple of time since they bought it. the house was built in 1912 (or so) and while they had to do some renovations to put heat in the place (was a vacation home in the poconos) they never renovated the servants quarters in the basement!

good luck on the move! You put a smile on my face!
