Dallas is spending the day at the vet's office, set to see the mobile vet who does the ultrasounds. He will also have some xrays. His platelet levels have been very low, as low as the 30s. The last test around Halloween had him at 75, which is still too low. He was on doxycycline for 3 weeks before that. We are trying to find out what is going on with him.

Please keep your fingers crossed or what ever you can for him, so they can figure out what the heck is wrong. If it is something like Cancer, I want to know about it.... nailbite_smile

Thanks guys....

Re: OT: Prayers needed please

Prayers coming as fast as we can send them. You know Jon and I will have both our fingers and toes crossed as well as the fur gang will be crossing paws and tails for you little guy as well. They are sending purrs and head bonks as well as King is sending cyber sloppy drooler kisses.

Please keep us posted as you know more.

One thing to remember Jesse is that in cat's platelets need to be looked at under a scope as they clump in felines, if they are machine counted by a machine meant for human blood the count will be lower than the actual count.

Well, the ultrasound was good and the x-rays yielded nothing for our platelet issue. The did a tick/vector real PCR blood panel to see what that yields (4th blood test since mid September). Possible that he will go on prednisone.

But what the x-rays they took found is that they think he was hit by a car in the time he was a stray. I have noticed in the 3 years I have had him that he has a "boney butt" as I call it. Apparently he had a fracture on his rear right leg. they took 5 x-rays but only charged me for 3....the vets were very excited I think...a special vet come in to do the ultrasound and to look at the x-rays. No cancer or tumors. But no answers as to why his platelet levels are so low.

RE the platelet levels, apparently the range is 155-641 K/ul (that should be a u, but I don't have the symbol on this keyboard). His has been:

9/12/14 was 58
9/19/14 was 36
10/31/14 was 75

That is good news. Will still send lots of prayers your way to figure out what is wrong with your baby.

I'm glad that you got good news that Dallas doesn't have a tumor or cancer. I hope the mystery of his platelets is solved soon!
