If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'd prefer to get the Lantus to someone within driving distance, but if worse comes to worse, can ship. But will have to wait till weather is not freezing, I think. Makes me nervous to ship the insulin.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: to all!

I so want someone else to get use out of his insulin and other things and I know that's what Flame would want too. When I first joined this board back in 2008, I was so scared and I had so many people help me. We came back in Dec. and we found the same caring and selflessness and support that we had way back then. I know how expensive this can all be to treat... especially when you have a kitty with multiple health issues like I did. I'd love to help someone else like so many people have helped us.

Do you think I should post on Health too in case there are new Lantus users that might need some help with insulin and supplies? I suppose I could also post in the Facebook as well.

I am coping. I'm taking it moment by moment.... that's all I can do right now. The hardest part is when you have these fleeting moments when you actually forget he's not here and then reality just smacks you in the face... again and again. That's been happening to me a lot and it's hard.

Thank you for all your love :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I know. I would come down the stairs in the morning and my eyes would automatically go to a favorite sleeping space. But it was empty. It takes time. And tears. Hang in there.

It really did help me, after I lost Harvey, the last of my cats, to share our supplies with others, especially those with a real financial need. I hope it helps you, too.

I posted here first, because this was our home, and after a day or so posted on Health. I didn't post on FB, but I gave away everything pretty quickly here.

Just checking in to give my support as well :bighug:
I'm all the way on the West Coast and I'm one of the lucky ones who is able to use a coupon that allows me to purchase the Solostar pen for only $10. I hope someone in more need and closer geographically will not feel shy about the circumstances and contact you.
It does seem like that's what Flame would want after reading everything you've offered here about his spirit and your origin story.

did you ship insulin?
I did. Now is probably a good time of year to do it, as there aren't as many temperature extremes in most parts of the country. I sent it overnight, which is pretty pricey. Depending where you're shipping it, two day, or ever US priority mail will probably work. I bought several meds for my cats online that required coolpacks, so I had some small styrofoam containers that they came in, and an abundance of gel icepacks. I wrapped the insulin well and put a couple of the gel icepacks in and used the styrofoam container inside a box. The insulin arrived safely.

Hi, just back and saw the news. I am so very, very sorry...there really isn't much I can say that will ease that awful emptiness and hole in your heart, but if there was something you know I would say it in a heartbeat.....
Sending gentle hugs to you:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Tricia,
I don't have any styrofoam containers, so I'd just have to enclose gel cool packs (which I think I do have) and wrap in bubble wrap inside a shipping box. It's been really cold here in NJ, but is supposed to warm up a bit this week and then get frigid again this weekend. Not sure where I'd be shipping or what the temps would be like, so even if it's frigid here I'd probably still need the cool packs if it's warmer where I'm shipping. What do you think?

Thanks!!

I think bubble wrap and a ziplock type bag or two should do the trick. Just keep the insulin from coming into direct contact with the ice pack and I would imagine it would be fine.
