I'll delete this later, don't want to take up space. But had to show ya'll my purty colors! :o

Hope I can get it to post.

I had just gotten out of the shower, I so hate to admit I haven't had a shower since Monday! Just washed up some each day, changed clothes, but spent most of the last 4 days in bed cause of the foot. ANYWAY had a shower and was drying off and saw the foot! Good Grief! Had to show ya'll. Some of the worst bruising I have had with a broke toe, except for the time I broke 3 at one whack, that was doozy! My whole foot was black that time. That was 30+ yrs ago and since then, it has always been a baby toe or big toe. I had forgotten how painful it can be to break an inside toe(s). There is no way to walk that takes the pressure off. With an outside toe, you walk on the opposite edge and it doesn't hurt so bad. Let's just say that this brought back some NOT good memories. :o

So, that being said, I feel a lot better, the pain is much less and I'm hobbling around quite well and felt well enough to shower and that made me feel even better. :-D I hate to be sick or injured, you feel so grungy after a couple days, even when you wash up.

I'll pull the post later, just wanted to show off my colors! ;-)

Oh yeah, that puke green in about a week. YUCK

I have about 15 pics of the cats I just unloaded too. I think I'll make Lucian a new avatar, since he looks so much better now. dancing_cat I forget what pics I've taken until I load them onto the laptop. I added a couple to his page a few months ago, of all of them. Love my babies! cat_pet_icon

Yay! Of course it's so small you can't tell, but he looks a million times better than his first pic, a week after dx.

I also added several new ones of him on his profile. He's my handsome boy, even when he was sick, to me. But he looks so much healthier now. He's gained a couple pounds, about 9 lbs now, maybe a little more. My scale doesn't work well on small weight. And he has his shine back, not dull and flaky like he was at first.

Yes, I know, I'm taking up space. Love my boy!

OOOhhhhh! New picture of Lucian. He does look like he has some meat on his bones now, not so skinny like has last avatar.

I wouldn't worry about taking up space on the board. You should go over to community and see all the pictures Carl has posted.

Carl has a great 'eye' and a terrific place to take nature pics. :thumbup

If you check Lucian's page, I added 5 newer pics and you can see the difference, both his weight and his shine. He looks a lot more like his old self, not quite there yet, but working on it. He's never been heavy, always slim to medium build and fine boned, not stocky or masculine at all. But a healthy weight for his bone structure. His normal weight was around 11-11.5 lbs.

For a short period of time, he managed to work his way up to almost 14 lbs and was quite chunky for him. He was about 8 then and that's when I got Patches and she ran the excess weight off him, along with the other 2 that were over weight. Getting a rambunctious kitten to go with 8, 10 and 12 yo fat cats, was what saved them from getting obese. She is still a hellion! Momma's little terrorist! But it was beneficial to the older cats, she refused to allow them NOT to play with her! In 6 months, they were all at a healthy weight and never did put it back on. My 16 yo, a stocky, big boned cat, is about 13 lbs and Lucian is about 9 right now. I lost the oldest at 16, 2.5 yrs ago from renal failure. But I think, playing with Patches and keeping a healthy weight was what has given them longevity. But now, at 6.5 yo, Patches is getting chubby. Got a feeling, it won't be long before I'll have to adopt another kitten, to get her back in shape. :-D Maybe after I finally get my disability squared away and get a place of my own. I may consider getting a dog again, when I have a place with a yard. Who knows, that's a year or 2 away, anything could happen between now and then. Life is so uncertain, I don't even buy green bananas!

I'm sure of one. Could be 2.

After spending yesterday out of bed, either moving around or sitting at the pc, my foot blew up like a softball, from not being elevated or iced. Not doing that today, it still needs care, so I'm going to spend time elevating with the ice pack. I had the swelling under control for days. Went to sleep with the ice pack on last night, it's good for about an hour. Got up later and put it back in the freezer, gonna get it out and go btb. Right now, I couldn't even get a flip flop on.

Edit: You asked how I did it. Lucian woke me up in the middle of the night Monday/early Tuesday, so I picked him up and carried him to the test spot and in the process, didn't clear the base of an old platform rocker I have. I had neglected to put on my glasses when I got out of bed. Not that it mattered, every other time I've broken toes, I had them on. I have bad depth perception and I'm a klutz.

The initial dark plum color tells you something broke!

Taping it to its neighbor is what docs do if it is a simple fracture. My housemate chipped one of his and they gave him a boot to wear; he says it is much more comfortable.

Yup. When I broke the 1st one as a teen, Dr. said all they do is 'Buddy-Toe' it if it's not out of place. If it is, they put it back, then do the same thing. Not a whole lot to be done, except keep it stable and let it heal. Which is why I rarely go to the Dr when I break one, I know it'll be fine in about 6 weeks.

This is the 2nd break since I moved back in 2008. Usually about every 5-10 yrs or so.

I have only had one out of place and I broke it in 2 places and a bone in my foot. That was UGLY! It was about 10-11 yrs ago. Same scenario, caught it on the leg of a futon sofa, baby toe, same foot. HAD to go the Dr that time, couldn't put it back where it belonged, myself.

Then the big toe, same foot, while evacuating in the early stages of hurricane Floyd, slipped and fell, with my foot under me and the toe backwards, but it wasn't displaced. I was barefoot and in 4 inches of water. Couldn't see messing up my shoes in the water, so I messed up my toe. That was 1999 or 98.

This is my 4th since 98-99. As it stands, I have 2 that haven't been fractured. Both baby toes have been 2-3+ times. The rest of them once. Sitting here trying to remember all the broke toes. My feet catch hell, have all my life. Have fractured both ankles and had a multitude of sprains. Seriously, I'm a Class A Klutz! I could break something in a rubber room!

Oh shoot, here we go again, severe storm warning, 1/4 inch hail, 58 mph straight line winds...............I hate that, I was gonna run to the store, will wait til after it passes.

Um ... have you ever had your bone density checked? Just thinking you've broken a lot.

And next time you're evacuating, wear the shoes. You don't know what can be in flood waters! (This is your other mother, y'hear?)

Actually had my bone density checked about 2 yrs ago, it's fine, I'm a klutz!

The thing with the hurricane, I was gonna put my shoes on IN the car because the water was deep by my front steps, but the car was higher. I just didn't make it, I went running, hit that puddle and down I went and then ALL of me was wet, not just my shoes. Like I said, I'm just a klutz.

I broke the middle toe on my right foot, trying to get out of a tight pair of jeans, in the mid 90's. You know how you kick your foot to loosen the leg, so it will slide down? Well, I kicked my dresser. Look now, not just anybody could that!

Ouch!!!! Looks very painful! But it was all for Lucian who is looking mighty handsome. I have a soft spot for greys. Take care of yourself!
