I've been following Pretzel on Facebook, and I know there are a few people here who have also been following her. She is a sweet little kitten that was found in the road by her MamaBean when she was just a few weeks old. Pretzel's hind legs and tail are deformed and twisted, and she is blind, but she is one happy little baby cat! She has been receiving incredible care in Florida, thanks to the generosity of complete strangers. She's had a couple surgeries to help correct her leg issues as best as possible, but she has developed complications from her latest surgery.

We all know how powerful LL prayers are, and It sounds like she could really use some right now, so if you have some to spare, please send them Pretzel's way! If you're not familiar with her story, I've included the link to her FB page. Her story is worth following!

The story behind this little kitty is incredible. She's had several surgeries to correct the deformity in her leg and currently, there's limited blood flow. Her bean, Carmen, thought her behavior was "off" over the weekend and took her in to the University vet hospital where she's had surgery. Currently, Pretzel is in a hyperbaric chamber to superoxygenate her blood so she doesn't lose the foot. This is a kitten the many would have left to die by the side of the road or would have PTS. Instead, people have been sending gifts, money, etc. to get her the surgeries she's needed. This is really the first set back. She will need as many prayers as you can muster.

One person did post that the same exact thing happened to her 25 years ago. A cast was put on too tight, cutting off the blood flow to her foot. She ended up with the same treatment Pretzel is now receiving, and she is fine. This was a wonderful post to see! Hopefully, the same will be true for sweet li'l Pretzel.

The update for the evening is on a positive note.
Doctor just called and things are stable right now. She said that they were able to get her wound cleaned out a lot better today and that Pretzel seems much more comfortable which is GREAT news! She said because they didn't want to re-change the bandage until tomorrow that they couldn't get a good assessment on the circulation issue tonight. She said they will be changing Pretzel's bandage probably mid day tomorrow and at that time they will be able to see which way things are headed. She said that she is happy with the hyperbaric treatment and thinks it is definitely helping. Although she isn't out of the woods yet it is good enough news for me and I might be able to sleep tonight.

Pretzels and her bean will be in my Prayers. Thank you for the update Sienne; I'm not a Facebook subscriber so I can't follow Pretzel's progress there.

As many of you know, the reason we decided to try to correct the right leg as opposed to just doing the amputation to begin with is that her left knee joint is also abnormal. As she grows it isn't going to be strong enough to support her body and needs reconstructing as well. The doctor said this morning that is more important now to get her "good" leg fixed but he's not going to do it just yet.
I feel like I am in a bad dream. How can this happen when we did everything right? Fate has a twisted sense of humor because this isn't funny at all.

I haven't been able to get on FB today to check for updates. This is so heartbreaking. But, Pretzle has an amazing spirit and incredibly family - both real and virtual. Keep those prayers coming!!!
 
Sweet little Pretzel had to have her right hind leg amputated a couple days ago, and came home yesterday. To quote her MamaBean, you can't keep a good cat down! Here's a link to her home coming video...what a little joy this kitty is!
