I know you guys know so much more than my vet does about this sort of thing. Next week, DH and I are going to concert. We'll be gone from AMPS +8ish till PMPS + 6-ish, so we already know we're unfortunately going to have to skip Trix's shot that night.

The other issue we have, though, is Mario's medication schedule. He's on amlodipine for his high BP, and transdermal Tap for his thyroid. Normally, I follow the same 12/12 schedule as Trix's insulin. But, we obviously won't be here at the time we normally give him his evening doses.

Does anyone know if we should we skip these meds, too, or should we give them to Mario right before we leave? I'm leary of having too much overlap with his BP meds, but I'm also afraid of him NOT getting his BP med in particular.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'd post on Health and send a PM to Jess and Earl. It may depend on how early you need to give the meds. I'd also call your vet.

I would ask your vet. But, maybe you could slowly move the med times, like we had to do with the insulin for daylight savings time. Just a thought.

Thanks, Sienne...I'll do that.

My vet is pretty good, but I'm pretty sure she'll say "Yeah, it's no biggie to give the meds early." When Trix was initially diagnosed, before we found FDMB, she told us it was fine if we shot an hour early here, or a couple hours late there, so I don't have the utmost confidence it what her answer would be about this one...

ETA: I don't think I could shift the time, given how early we'll be leaving for the concert. I'd have to get up in the middle of the night, and when life returns to "normal" on Friday, I'd have a really hard time getting things back on track...

No, Mario has never seen a cardiologist. He's just had the usual BW, and goes in for fairly frequent BP checks with their fancy BP doppler machine...

Can a friend or neighbour come in to give the meds on time?

I've been toying with this idea, but he is pretty skittish with strangers. I suppose we could have someone try, and if they're able to get the meds in, great; if not, it was at least an effort....
