Hi everyone,
I am sorry if my absence on the Board this summer has worried anyone. The first half of July was incredibly busy, and then I crashed. The reason for the crash: Lyme Disease caused by a tick bite while on a hike in late April. I found the tick when I got home and pulled it out with a "tick key", but I mauled it in the process. I thought I was safe because I removed it only about 4 hours after it attached. WRONG! The symptoms all came simultaneously in mid July: swollen joints and muscle pain, stiff neck, incredible fatigue, etc. Of course I tested negative for Lyme (very common). My new doctor humored me and prescribed the standard 20-day course of antibiotics. The joints and muscles are OK now, but I am still fatigued. I've been reading the scientific literature and I think that if I don't improve in the next few days I will require another course of a/bs. I will discuss this with my doctor next week. She doesn't think I have Lyme. And she rattled off a list of the 1001 diseases of man that I might have!! But given the fact that I had the bite and then many of the classic symptoms, I don't see what else it could possibly be. It came on so suddenly. I am a very active person and am never sick!
Gus is a wonderful kitty and is watching over me. Edward is doing many of my chores, in addition to his own. We all send you our greetings and I will keep you posted on what happens next.
Hugs to you all and scritches to your kitties,
