So took my 16 year old Sylvester in to vet today. He has been declining lately, losing weight, appetite is poor and he walks like he is walking on egg shells. His fur looks poor as well. Not my usual Sylly.

The vet said he is dehydrated (he drinks a lot) and gave sub Q fluids. She took blood and urine tests, including T4. She is thinking either kidneys or thyroid, but either way, she said she " doesnt think it going to work out very well".

They had to sedate him as he went into full attack mode at the vet. This is my docile cat, who rarely even meows much less fights. He is completely gonzo now, and hubby and I are taking turns babysitting. We cant leave him alone because he falls over if he tries to stand up. Hard to watch.

Positive thoughts appreciated.

Oh honey!!! Tons of prayers for the Sly man. All fingers, toes, paws and tails crossed that its something easy to fix.

Well, it was a long long night, waking constantly to make sure the sedated cat was not falling off the bed. He did get up on his own at one point and went pee. I woke in a panic to find him in his box. Poor old guy he got an itch or something and shook his head, knocked himself right over! I got some chicken into him last night too, which made us feel better.

This morning he seems to have his land legs back, and has eaten a bit, and is currently puddling in his water fountain. I have a hair appt this morning that I was unsure about keeping, but he seems to be okay. I will be waiting to hear from the vet today, so better for me to keep busy anyway, rather than sitting here staring at him.

If we get bad news and have to let him go, at least we had last night with him where he had one or both of us holding him in our arms all night.
