OT Christmas request from our FDMB family

As most of you know we recently moved into a new and much bigger home. Because of the move and the additional room this will be the first year since Jon and I got married that we will have the room to put up a Christmas tree. So I have a very special request from you all.

Since we are trying very hard to bring back a lot of the old traditions of the season and drop the commercial aspects of the holiday. And for us that means having friends and family around to celebrate and well neither Jon nor I have much family left, here is the wild idea we hatched the other day.

We would love to decorate our very first tree with ornaments from you all. There has been a long standing tradition in my family where we all have our own personal ornaments that go on the family tree every year so that even though we maybe miles apart for the holidays we are always close to each others hearts. Which we would love to continue (my step father still has the family ornaments for this year's tree). And since you have all been our extended family now for the last 4 years since Muse first led me to this board. I'm asking you to help continue this tradition in our new home.

What we are looking for is something that is Cat related and specifically if you wish related to your cat, this can be an ornament starring your kitty or kitties, a cat ornament that is colored like your cat or just a plain kitty themed ornament. If it is just an generic cat ornament, please add a tag to it so each year when we place it on the tree we will know who it is from and which cat it belongs to. Then when the tree is all decorated I will post a picture of it in it's full glory.

The theme for this year's tree is A Home is just a House without a Cat. So we need lots of kitty ornaments to fill it up. :-D

We no longer carry any ornaments from that movie. We don't have any from 101 Dalmations, Lion King, Oliver & Co (someone asked me for that on Sunday) to name a few. I think the Aristocats one we had was Duchess and Marie. There are just so many movies and characters, we can't carry them all. You might however, want to check at disneystore.com. They have a separate line and they might have what you are looking for AND it might be on sale...hope you like what Mickey did send. ;-)
 
Preparing package for you with ornament from Alska... do you still want these? I wasn't sure with all your changes in plans but I have it ready to mail to you if you still want it. Alska would be honored to be on your tree.
 
Jesse .....Mickey did good and because his is breakable it will go on the tree Christmas eve, AFTER the cats are locked out of the room with the tree...lol Remember I have a wild child kitten here... :roll:

Robin, tell Alska to put it in the mail because the tree goes up this weekend, that is the one part of the plans that didn't change. I have a point to prove to DH....since I insist that you CAN have both cats and a Christmas tree and he says it won't work....Silly dog guy.

Oh geez... I have a totally packed tree of breakable vintage and new ornaments and last year had not only my own crew, and Bing but four foster kittens. I only had one breakage and it was after the kittens left :lol:
 
We cat people know that, unfortunately DH is a recent convert to Kitty Dad up until we got married he was a dyed in the wool dog person. The only time I've had problems with having a tree is when I've had a dog in the house. Wagging tails are deadly to breakable ornaments :lol: :lol:

I got swamped and just got your ornament on the way.
I went and bought one just like the one I was going to send you... because it's pewter.... ( no breaking) and had the seller send it your way.
He is supposed to say it's from Rhiannon and shadow but who knows if he'll do it right.

Anyway, a pewter kitty is on the way.

It got here and yes, it said it was from you and Shadow. :)

And once it comes off the tree it is going on a silver chain so I can wear it like an necklace as it is just too lovely to only be seen once a year. :D

LOVE IT!!! I'm late to the party, so after Christmas will have to be the way, but I think this is a GREAT idea! My ONLY tree this year is the one with all the special kitty/puppy ornaments on it. Generic ones, as well as the photo ornaments, glass balls w/ glitter names or paint-pen names that were painted w/ the assistance of my friends' kids (who help decorate this tree every year. A good time - I buy pizza, kids & parents come over, we do the tree, usually some crafts (cat toys w/ catnip), painting the ornaments, etc. We also save our toilet paper and paper towel rolls for about 3 months and wrap them like British "poppers" w/ Milk Bones inside. Of course Dom & Jack supervise and provide quality control! :)
 
Well the tree survived the cats but as I predicted not the drooler....lol King has managed to take the tree down twice because he insists on laying by the window where the tree is and then shoving it with his feet because it's in his way when he wants to stretch out. However, the cats have not climbed it, batted anything off of it or knocked it over so I'm claiming victory with DH that you can have both a Christmas tree and cats, although I'm not to sure about a tree and a dog...lol

Once I get them downloaded off my phone I will post pictures of our little "first" tree that thanks to you all was absolutely lovely and very special for us to have our extended family on it.

Merry Christmas to you Mel and a Happy New Year. I probably wont post much now as I hate this new format and miss the Relaxed forum. Where is the UNLIKE button.

Anyways, Silver is doing great! His legs are getting stronger every day; he's not peeing on the floor anymore altho we still have a few pooping accidents; and his numbers are still good. Whoo hoo!
