Hello everybody!

I hope all is well with you all! I think of you all of the time, and I keep up on your news by checking in a couple times a week. Good strong vines to all who need them, always.

I wanted to let you know that we adopted a kitty last week. I named him Knute (K- Noot). Knute is also a Scandinavian name, so it is as though Ole and Knute are cousins :-D . He is a 4 year old ginger tabby and had been at the shelter since January. He is a sweet gentle old soul, full of purrs and kneads and he values his naps. He has a perfect personality to fit into our nutty cattery. Although Loki misses Ole terribly, he is super timid and shy. Knute's mellow vibe is allowing Loki to adapt quickly to a new friend in the house. Fifi has also decided to come into the house, after living in the garage for the past several years. After Ole crossed over, I decided to see if she would be interested in moving back in, so here she is. She turned 17 this month and is a crabby little old bitty. She likes to give Knute the what for, but he is completely nonplused by her sour puss, being a veteran of the shelter system.

Anyway, we are all adjusting in our own way, blending our family with acceptance and love. The summer has been cruising right along and I can't believe the solstice is upon us.

All my best to all of you and to all of your sweet sugar babies. I never figured out how to post pictures on this site, but Kunte could be Cobb's little bro.

Rebekah, Alex, Loki, Fifi and Knute the kanoodler.

Hi Rebekah - good to hear from you and great news on the new addition to the family. :YMHUG: I'm glad you got a slightly older one who'd been at the shelter a while. They are my personal favorites.

I had a cousin named Knute - he was a crazy cat guy. Seems a fitting name somehow. Scritches to your furbabies from me.

Hey Rebekah!

Welcome home Knute! Man did you score a great place in your old age!

I am so happy the garage kitty came in although I am betting your garage has kitty beds in it to. LOL

Nice to hear from you. :-D

Hi Rebekah. It's nice to hear from you. Congratulations on the new addition. Sounds like the introduction is going well. That's awesome. I wish you many happy, healthy years with Knute! :-D

Hi Rebekah :YMHUG:
Congratulations Knute on scoring a great mommy. You are going to be so happy and are one lucky kitty cat_pet_icon
I'm glad Fifi has decided to come on in.
Thanks for the update, and don't be a stranger ;)

Congratulations KNUTE!! You are one lucky kitteh! A great furever home, a new friend and well, FiFi is old and you are truly a gentleman cat . You know she's really flirting! ;-)

Hi everybody!

Thank you for all of your kind words and skritches for Knute. We absolutely adore him, and are astonished that he has spent so much time in a shelter. He is a stray from the White Mountains, adopted there but returned a couple of years later. He was transferred here to Flagstaff in January and came into our lives June 1. He has adapted to Loki and Fifi quickly, but is slower to adapt to our house with all of it's strange sights and sounds. I coo at him that all that he can see is his, and that he is safe and warm from here on out. He looks at me with his golden eyes, and we share a slow blink together.

I am also happy that Fifi has decided to move back in side, though she still prefers to spend her days napping in the garden. She seems to have been completely intolerant of Ole and just barely tolerates the rest of us. She does like Alex though, the little flirt. Ole was quite taken with Fifi and would try to engage her, but she was having none of it. She first lashed out, and then retreated, contentedly living in her fancy heated garage and spending time in her back garden. Fifi completely ignores Loki and gives Knute attitude, which in return, Knute completely ignores Fifi. Ah, the tangled web felines weave. Fifi turned 17 this month, and is in remarkably good health. She is a tiny little old lady with a fierce personality, shaking her finger at the world, which really cracks us up. She is pretty contented, but when you look into her eyes, you can tell that she wishes that it was just her and Alex hahaha.

Poor Loki has had it toughest of all of us. He is such a gentle and sensitive kitty. He was totally devastated by the loss of his BFF. When Fifi moved in, it became obvious that she was not going to provide the companionship that Loki craved. He is 5 and has always had somebody to play with, so that is what I was looking for in Knute, who is 4. They get along wonderfully, but Loki is still a little bit shy, and Knute is a little bit skittish. It has only been a week, but when I left this morning for work, they were playing together under the kitchen table, awwww.

I am doing well. Dealing with cat shenanigans is the best way for me to grieve. When my best friend Little Buddy died many years ago, now. I "adopted" a starving street kitty and named him Vinny. "Project Vinny" involved making friends and building trust with this street tough, feeding and inoculating him. As soon as the weather warmed and Vinny was fit and healthy, he took off into the urban wild. I have never seen him again. He helped me deal with the loss of Buddy and I hope that I helped him get healthy enough to find his way home. While searching for Vinny at the shelters, I found my little Loki, who was also finding it difficult to get adopted. I miss Ole every day. Every day. I know he is watching over me, watching over us all, and giving us his impish grin of approval.

Thanks again for your kindness and support. Thinking of you and your dance partners in your life's dance. Snuggle those little kitties of yours for me!

(((Rebekah)))

This makes my heart sing for all of you but especially Knute because he does not yet know the amazing, wonderful, and well loved life he will live and also for sweet Loki the the will once again have a friend.

I'm glad you are well. We are always happy to see our family members. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Rebekah!!! I'm so glad to see you! what a wonderful story for Knute - don't you wonder why some kitties get overlooked at the shelter? Punkin was there for 3 months and when i found him, i couldn't imagine how people could've resisted his purr that could be heard 2 rooms away. but i always thought it worked out the best because he belonged to us. I imagine Knute is the same way - he was just waiting for you to find him.

i hope Loki and he become good friends.

are you still going to run in Europe this summer?

thanks for dropping in to see us and let us know how things are going. i think of you and Ole often. :YMHUG:

Hey Julie and all,

I did get into the Imogene Pass Run, which is a 17 mile race from Telluride CO to Ouray CO, but we are not going to Scotland this year. We instead are building a small addition to our house that will be a painting studio for me.

Thank you again! Feel free to come to cheer me on in September!

Rebekah
