All right! Share the link for this amazing product with us! :-D

Re: OT - 8 days without a cigarette!

You can get personal vaporizers at any Brick and Mortar Vape Shop or online. There are tons in Ca. I have a link for a site that lists them nationwide.

I don't know how to link it here, but it's http://www.vaporsearchusa.com. You search your state. Wow, it made it's own link, cool.

There's also a fairly reputable Chinese company called Fasttech that a lot of people use, the prices are better and you can get name brands or clones that work as well for less $$. Fasttech.com, look under personal electronic I think, then e-cigarettes. The only problem with them is the shipping time. You can plan on 10 days to a month sometimes, just to get your order. But the shipping is free and the prices are great.

Best place for research is e-cigarette-forum.com. I'd recommend any of the eGo brand vaporizers because they are very common, you can find accessories in any vape shop for them and they don't cost an arm and leg. I bought one in a shop and ordered 2 from China. The local cost me twice as much as the other 2.

I have a pic of the set up I got at the shop, let me see if I can get it on here. It's really pretty, with blue and black flowers on the battery and a glass tank and a matching mouth piece. Put it together myself. Each piece was bought separately instead of in a kit. Love it. :) My other 2 are solid black and red batteries with toppers the same color as the batts.

Re: OT - 8 days without a cigarette!

So awesome...go Debbie! I am definitely one for milestones, helps keep me going.

Re: OT - 8 days without a cigarette!

:RAHCAT You go girl!! I've been smoke free for over 2 years now. It is one of the hardest things that you will ever do however you will be soooo glad that you did!!
Not only will you feel so much better and save a ton of money you will also NOT be a slave to those cigs!!
Keep up the good work!

Re: OT - 8 days without a cigarette!

THAT"S FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!! You go girl.... and keep celebrating those milestones!

Re: OT - 8 days without a cigarette!

I am DIY my own nic liquid and did some test batches last night.

2 of the flavors I hoped would come out well, are really showing possibility. They are Caramel Cappuccino and Tiramisu. I am so excited! :-D

Making my own is not only MANY times cheaper, but I can adjust my nicotine level at any time, add more flavors, get it exactly the way I want it.

Met my neighbors across the hall, young couple and he 'vapes' too. Said he'll be the guinea pig to try my new flavors and will buy from me. Cool! I wouldn't mind making a few bucks by selling 'juice', he has friends that 'vape' too, along with his brother. :thumbup

My property manager's sister vapes and she has tasted hers although she doesn't smoke, she's interested in getting zero nic juice in sweet bakery flavors to appease her sweet tooth and maybe help her lose weight. There's a thought.

I think the vaping can help to prevent the weight gain when quitting smoking. I know I haven't eaten more since I quit this time. Not like the last time when I gained 10# in 2 weeks. :o But then, I don't FEEL like I quit, I feel the same, just enjoying the taste more and my lungs are starting to clear. I can breathe better already. :-D To be able to quit and not be miserable is an amazing thing!

Re: OT - 9 days without a cigarette!

14 days without a cigarette means you're officially OTT (Off The Tobacco)? That's what they say, anyway: takes 14 days to make or break a habit. And just as our kitties are always diabetics, even when diet controlled, you'll always be a smoker, except just in remission? ;-) That's actually what one of my friends calls himself: a smoker in remission because he's superstitious and after declaring loudly and proudly that he'd "QUIT for good!" the first half-dozen times, he refuses to jinx himself this time around and say he's a quitter. (And this time, it's actually sticking the longest so far!)

Re: OT - 9 days without a cigarette!

I was officially OTT the first day, but am still indulging in my habit. It sure tastes better! And no smell, anywhere.

My son told me to stop at the 'auto spa' and pick a detail package for my truck and he'll pay for it for Christmas. Get all the smoke smell out. Fortunately it's only been smoked in for a little over a year, so it shouldn't be too hard. The previous owners did not smoke and they had it many years, although they weren't the original owners.

Funny about that 14 day thing. I told my son I was waiting for 2 weeks with no smokes to get the truck detailed. :-D

Re: OT - 9 days without a cigarette!

I'll be a 'recovering smoker' now.

What I won't be is a militant ex-smoker, they piss me off hard core! :-x

Ran into my neighbors again, late this afternoon, on their way to White Street Brewery. They insisted I join them there, so after testing Lucian and putting on some face, I went down there. (Not 5 min from our appt building) At about 6pm, I noticed there were only about 8 people there, it was early, but 4 of us had electronic devices and the Brewery is E-Cig friendly! It's been years since I could have a beer and get my nic too! How cool is that? Stayed till about 7:30 then headed home to shoot Lucian.

Re: OT - 13 days without a cigarette!

GO WOMAN GO!!!

You can do this and if you can I can. So following your progress closely.

Re: OT - 13 days without a cigarette!

You don't know how close I came to getting smokes today, with Lucian doing what he is. Been trying to use higher nic juice to keep from buggin'.

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

I miscounted, I quit on the 7th, last cig at 10 am, so the 8th was 1 day. So that makes it 12 days as of 10 this morning. If ya count the first day, the 7th it makes 13. Depends on how you look at it.

I'm too unnerved over Lucian to care about a day. I'm just glad there are no smokes here. Some people keep some in their house when they quit, so not to go into panic mode. I'm just the opposite, if they're around and I'm buggin, like now, I'll smoke them. It's taking all my willpower not to go to the store. I've only been up about 30 mins, gotta get my nic level up before I leave the house.

Speaking of which, the nic and chemicals in a cig hit your brain in 8 seconds, it takes about several minutes for nic to hit coming from a vaporizer. It's not the instant gratification that is achieved with with a cig. How long are you supposed to keep the nic gum in your cheek? I think it's 10 min. Same time frame, 10-15 mins with vaporizing I believe.

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

I'm trying! Chain vaping low dose nic for 2 hrs, I can't do the higher dose, and 2 xanax later, I quit crying and got my willpower back. Whatever it takes. :YMSIGH:

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

Its a process, not an event.

And just take 1 day ... or 1 hour ... or 1 minute at a time.

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

@ BJM, I know, it's just the problems with Lucian that almost put me over the edge. I've been doing really well until today.

I guess being able to not smoke, when it feels like the world is crashing in on you, means I'm getting there. (with the help of pharmaceuticals  )

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

I've heard it can take folks several tries to quit cigarettes, so any and all work on it is to be commended.

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

I've tried several times, with some to no success.

Always quit when preggers and for a year or 2 after, but was stupid and started back.

Quit a few times for a couple weeks and found out I could not go out and drink with friends and not smoke.

Quit back in 2004 for 6 months cold turkey, they were all cold turkey, but stress from a new business with my ex and not being able to get cigs off my mind for the entire time, led me back.

With E-cigs or the EPV, the electronic personal vaporizer that I'm using, the difference is amazing. I just need to get a couple more weeks under me to feel like it will last. It's too early to be able to handle severe stress without really bugging out. That was the issue this morning, with Lucian's AMPS. But I got thru it.

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

Awesome job Debbie!! I myself just quit cigarettes too-I'm on day 45. I know what you are going through-so if you need some support, I'm here!

You can do this!!!

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

How do the costs compare with cigarretes vs Vapes?

Re: OT - 12 days without a cigarette!

@BJM my initial outlay was about 1 month of cigs, about $175, but I have that 'Go Big or Go Home' attitude.

A basic setup is about $20 and a 30 ml bottle of juice $15-25. The average smoker goes thru 3 mls of juice a day. If that's so then $45-75 a month for juice. MUCH less than cigs. Buying the setups in vape stores can run higher, mine was a little more expensive, about $38-40. My neighbor got his at a local gas station for $20, but it's a lower power battery and basic color, but it's fine for him. I would recommend anyone who wants to get off cigs and vape to go to a local vape store for your 1st setup. They are loaded with stuff and will basically teach a newby how to do it. After that, there are a couple 'China direct' type companies that I'd recommend for more stuff, much cheaper. I wouldn't trust China juices, but for electronics, they ALL come from China, no matter where you buy them.

No matter what you get, get a backup. You never want to be tempted to go back to smoking just because your battery went dead. It does take a couple/few hrs to charge. I bought the one 'pretty' set and then 2 basic sets, China direct, for less than $10 a piece. I have no excuse for a dead battery. Plus I got a bunch of spare parts so I don't have to throw away pieces because they don't work, when they can be fixed for a .50 part.

If you buy juice, rather than DIY, it's a little more. You can make the most complicated juices for $2-3 per 30 ml, but the initial setup is higher, of course, getting everything you need. Some people just aren't into that or CAN afford expensive juices, that's fine, but to pay an average of $20 for what cost me $2, I can't see it. It is a major learning curve, DIY juices and since taste is subject, you won't like what someone else does. I've made 2 recipes that had glowing reviews, and IMO they sucked. So it's a lot of trial and error experimenting. I figure if the juice is USABLE that's fine, it doesn't have to be terrific. But have managed a couple of 'terrific' in my opinion. I've got 2 terrific and 3 stuck back in the cabinet in hopes of doing something with them in the future as they sure aren't usable now.

Re: OT - 14 days without a cigarette!

You really need to do it the way I am. I was never able to quit for any length of time until doing it electronically. This has made it amazingly easy. Even under stress, like lately, it's still doable.

Re: OT - 14 days without a cigarette!

My issue is that I don't really WANT to...yep I know all that bad stuff but I enjoy my smokes...maybe this WOULD be better as it fills that habit....??? It's really wierd, I can go to my parents house, stay all day and never want one but the minute I get in my truck, WHERE'S MY CIGS?!

Re: OT - 14 days without a cigarette!

Being a 2+ pack a day smoker for over 40 yrs, I could barely breathe much less do anything active. When the building's elevator was on the fritz, I had to go up and down from the 3rd floor. I had to stop at each landing for several minutes just to breathe.

Of course my Dr has been on me for years (along with the Drs before him) to quit. Haven't told him yet, waiting for my next check up to see what he says about my lung sounds. :-D

I didn't WANT to quit in reality, but I couldn't handle the obvious damage it was doing/had done. The chemicals added to tobacco products MAKES you not want to quit, that's what they are designed for. Getting my nicotine thru 'vaping', I've had no withdrawals at all. Every time my brain says 'I want a cig', I grab my rig and vape away. In a matter of a few minutes, that 'want' is gone. In the beginning, I had that thought several times a day, now it is much less often, maybe once or twice. With the exception of dealing with Lucian lately. Once I got a handle on that, I've been fine. That was the only time it took will power NOT to go buy cigs.

Now I feel like I'm over the mountain, got that 1st 2 weeks over with. It only gets easier. :-D

Re: OT - 15 days without a cigarette!

With what's going on with Lucian, I've become a 'chain vaper'.

Re: OT - 20 days without a cigarette!

Tomorrow makes 3 weeks, I'm amazed. :o

And the fact that my nephew smokes and it hasn't effected me, is even more amazing. :o

Re: OT - 20 days without a cigarette!

It's surprising that, for the most part, I can't smell his cigarettes. Only if the smoke gets directly in my nose, can I barely smell it.

I realize my sense of smell and taste is muted and will be until I am off the cigs for a while. But at the moment, no problems. :thumbup

Re: OT - 20 days without a cigarette!

Yay Debbie...so great that you've stayed so strong with all the extra stress going on! You're seriously one strong gal!

Re: OT - 20 days without a cigarette!

Seriously, not smoking is the least of my problems at the moment.

Gotta make another pecan pie tonight. :YMSIGH: Since we're having our 'late' Christmas dinner tomorrow, it's required. Getting whatever I can, done ahead, so I won't have to spend all day in the kitchen tomorrow.

Really looking forward to spending the day with son and nephew. :-D

Re: OT - 20 days without a cigarette!

Spending time with family is best part of holidays for me. Reminds me what's important. So nice that you get both your son and nephew.

Re: OT - 21 days without a cigarette!

Really nice to see 21 days. :-D

Tomorrow, all our NFL teams are playing, Saints, 49ers, New England and Detroit, so we're going to the club to watch football. Son's fiance' is joining too. :-D She's the Lions fan.

Re: OT - 24 days without a cigarette!

If stabilizing Lucian was as easy as quitting smoking has been, we'd have it made!

Re: OT - 24 days without a cigarette!

I was just buying cigarettes today and I was thinking, "Man, I won't be doing this for much longer!" I can't wait to get started on quitting! You are quite the inspiration for me. :-D

Re: OT - 24 days without a cigarette!

It's nice to be able to breathe. Used to be, I couldn't lay down flat, couldn't breathe when I did. No problem with that now. Nice to be able to take a deep breath too.

Re: OT - 24 days without a cigarette!

Just a quick heads up: e-cigarrettes and the syrups, etc aren't regulated by the FDA. Over the long haul, no one knows what those may do to you.

Also, nicotine will raise blood pressure, so be aware of that if you have hypertension or heart problems yourself, or up your family tree. Your long term plan may be to wean off the e-cigarrettes, too.

Re: OT - 24 days without a cigarette!

Nicotine replacement therapy is the same no matter how you get it. Whether it's the patch, gum, inhaler or e-cigs. Nicotine is only slightly more dangerous than caffeine, both can cause problems if over used. Nicotine isn't what causes cancer, etc. Vaping works to help you quit cigarettes because you are not only getting the nicotine to ease the withdrawals, but still have the 'hand to mouth' thing that you have been doing for years. That's the difference between vaping for your nicotine replacement and using another method.

As for the juice, I make my own and know exactly what's in it. I didn't care for the premade juice, although the ingredients are on the label and made by reputable companies that have been in business for quite a while. E-cigs didn't come out in the last couple years, it's just gotten more popular lately, been around since the 90's. The ingredients in the juice are FDA approved and pharmaceutical grade. It's not like there is some secret in the juice industry, it's wide open and although there haven't been enough testing, everything that has been tested is safe. Testing takes money, big tobacco and big pharma do NOT want anything to be used that takes money out of their pockets, hence the reason funding is so hard to come by. Just recently, a study from a medical institute in Boston found that that there is ZERO effect of 2nd hand vapor. Absolutely nothing that effects a bystander. No nicotine, nothing at all but water vapor. And that study was in a controlled, airtight environment with no filtering process.

I'm sure my chances are better with FDA approved flavor and glycerin and pharmaceutical grade nicotine than with the burning of over 4000 chemicals that are added to tobacco products. The vapor i'm inhaling is certainly healthier than the air pollution in some of the cities I've lived. Not even the air we breathe is 100% safe, so you do the best you can.

I may or may not quit vaping at some point, it's a non issue in my opinion. A large percentage of people reduce their nicotine to zero over time, but continue to vape for the flavor and relaxation. I can see that.

edit - the FDA, of course, would never approve something that was dangerous...... ;-) Approval is determined by who is in their 'pocket'. MHO

Re: OT - 30 days without a cigarette!

Close enough to a month to make me happy!

Still have no desire for a smoke, I'm loving it!

Re: OT - 30 days without a cigarette!

I just saw one of these. My coworker brought hers to work because it is too cold to go on the roof for a smoking break. She is even able to vapor in the office - at her desk. Hers has nicotine but she could go less and less nicotine until she can go with a non-nicotine vapor. Very cool!

Wow! You are winning!

Re: OT - 30 days without a cigarette!

Yup, I'm loving it and down to 4mg nicotine, which is very low. Gonna make some zero nic juice for at night, because the nic has been keeping me up, I vape more at night.

Today makes a month, never thought I'd see that unless I was comatose.

I feel like I can say I'm a non smoker now after a month without. Wasn't gonna go there until now.

Re: OT - 1 month without a cigarette!

Yay...huge accomplishment Debbie!!! So huge and great and something to be really proud of. :RAHCAT Go Debbie!
