HI all,
Well numbers are looking pretty stable, Oscar is enjoying FF - for a 6kg kitty how many little tins a day would you feed? Yesterday he had 3 (one each meal) I wasn't home at midday to test so I told my DH & son to give him one as I am afraid his levels may be dropping at +6. Today I will be able to test - obviously I don't want him to put on weight but he seems to need a steady stream of food. When on dry he paced himself.
Finally action in the litter box or as I would put it 'Movement at the station" a line from a famous Aussie poem 'The Man From Snowy River'.

I was working in the little local town yesterday (@ Post Office) and read a few of your condo's @ lunchtime LOL! Good to know that you can joke about it all. Also feeling guilty as I think most of you test in the middle of the night, if I set the alarm for 1am DH will think I have completely lost it. Even now I think he questions my sanity regularly - but after 30 years of pets I think he knows!!!

Thanks fellow newbie for adding my condo link yesterday - still not sure if I'll get it right today? confused_cat
I will try to get a few more significant test today so we can tell what's up. The vet suggest that lows should be 140-180 and highs 230-270 does that sound about right? Looking at your Emerald City yesterday I am wondering if that's high - or is it just keeping it steady the key?

Well another day (at least the weather is getting warmer) - so I better get moving. Sleep tight all you guys!

Cheers Joan

Hello from one Oscar owner to another :-D

A lot better looking numbers for him lately! The numbers your vet gave you are a good rule to go by if you aren't closely monitoring him daily. It keeps kitty away from a possible hypo range. If you can test more mid cycle for him, then you can safely allow the numbers to go lower because you will be able to catch a hypo before it happens most of the time.

Thanks Kelly,
It's still all so new. Hopefully I will one day get my Oscar's photo up so you can see. I only realized this morning that it was his birthday 2 nights ago. He was born during the opening cremony of the Sydney Olympics 10 years ago. With all this happening I forgot!
I know I should do more tests but feel so guilty everytime I draw blood. His little ears are quite sore already. Also I have had to go out and DH and son are way out of their comfort levels with testing although they will give shots which is a start.
Nice to hear from another Oscar lover.
Cheers Joan

Just dropped by to say hi and welcome! And happy birthday to Oscar. It IS a happy birthday, because you've found this wonderful place!

I don't convert to metric very well, so I can't tell how heavy Oscar is. Any idea what that is in pounds?

Here's a link to Dr. Lisa's guidelines on figuring out the right amount of food for Oscar: http://catinfo.org/?link=felineobesity

As for being crazy, I think all cat lovers may be, but it's a GOOD crazy!

Thanks Kathy. Yes this is a wonderful place. Oscar would be about 14lbs I will check the link you have mentioned, he is ok now but couldn't afford any more lbs.
Many thanks Joan
