A friend with a kitty allergic to grains recently switched to a brand of dry food called "Origen". She's extremely pleased with the benefit to her "Jack." I, too, have "Lucy" who sneezes and wheezes and I believe it may be a gluten to wheat problem. However, "Fred" is my diabetic (mostly kept OTJ with a wet diet -- which included some grains. So, I was interested in the stats on this product. Here's the info....:

Crude protein 42% (almost all fish product from Canada); Crude fat 20%; Crude fiber 2.5%; Moisture 10.0%; Calcium 1.7%; Phosphorus 1.4%; Ash 7% (this is a bit high for me); Omega-6 fatty acids 2.5%; Omega-3 fatty acids 1.8%; DHA/EPA; 1.0%; Taurine .04%; Magnesium 0.09%.

This product is 80% protein, 20% fruits, veggies & botanicals and 0% grains.

It would be so nice to be able to switch wot dry for a few meals -- especially when I need to be away for long days.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Kathleen & Fred

It is probably about the same carb content as the EVO and Wellness grain free varieties. The 40% protein content is probably based on dry matter percentages and not on % of calories like J&B's lists are. My dogs eat Origin and did very well on it though. Good food - they consistently get top pet food company of the year by some company evaluating pet food companies.

Orijen is a great food made here in Alberta but it while it is grain free and uses top quality ingredients, it isn't low in carbs and it is still dry. That said, its a decent food if you feed dry.
